Headset vs. speakers/microphone

I've been using two speakers for the longest time and I'm starting to realize that I love PC gaming but getting into xbox live simply because I can interact with who I'm playing with and its making it much better. I'm wondering if I should get a headset or stay with my two speaker setup and just get a desk microphone. Thoughts?

I've got a set of these: http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=s...C&title=172076

BELIEVE me it makes a HUUUUGE difference - although you might feel a bit geeky when your girlfriend spots you wearing them!

Well most online PC games if you get into them with a team hard core, you'll likely be using a chat server for better in game play. We use Ventrilo and people are always encouraged to use headsets so when they hit their push to talk key, everyone in the room doesn't have to hear their game sounds and echo of someone else talking. It's almost to the point of being mandatory people find the feedback so annoying.

Headsets with an attached mic are best because the mic stays the same distance from you no matter your movement.
