on my way back home from Wrightsville beach the other day, i decided to take the long long, long, way back home to charlotte. and why you may ask? i have never ventured into an Apple Store....and there happens to be one in the motherlode-of-malls, Shops at Southpoint, Durham, NC. After gathering myself from the initial shock induced by the sheer scale of this shopping complex, I stumbled my way into the Apple Store. If Gap sold computers, this would be they(?). the store is immaculate. the Genius Bar is a pretty spiffy idea, evidently you can bring your system in, sans reservation, and plop it on the bar and the resident genius will walk you through a program install, hardware upgrade, system settings, troubleshooting, etc. i was impressed. all display models connected via Airport(wifiG) and had active internet. the only downer of the experience was not being able to drool over the new PMG5's. which Apple, in standard fare, will probably get around to shipping by 2005.
