CPU temps on idle weird

Hello everyone.

I am running mobile meter on my notebook. I did the artic silver mod and it turned out great, temps are lower while under load and the fan does not have to work as hard to keep them down.

the one thing i did notice is that while the computer is at idle, the temps seem to have a weird pattern. It is very consistent, the temp will continue to go up and down from 40degrees to 47degrees and back down. When you look at the graph on mobile meter the peaks and valleys are all the same distance apart and same height.

I was just wondering is this normal for the temp to constantly be going up and down like this? I'm really have no idea what the norm is, so I may be asking a totally irrelavant question.

What do you think?

Laptops turn their fans on when they get hot, turn them off when they are cold. This is noise reduction in action.

I realize this. So I'm assuming the CPU still rises in temp on idle then?

I'll answer with a similiar question.

Does you car engine get warm when the car idles?

LoL, nice. I figured as much. But really that is a good analogy, thanks for a "stupid" answer to an actually stupid question.
