Sager 7620 announced - Page 6

Longhorn beta can already be found. It's not the best example of 64-bit technology at work, but it works. And I plan on keeping my 9860 for a long long time. I mean, how can you spend over 2,000 and NOT expect to use it for a while?

I plan on using mine for 2 years or so. Then I'll upgrade. I've seen benchmarks with the beta of Longhorn and I don't remember there being much improvement over 32 bit Windows.

As a note, Eurocom as a P-M PCI-e laptop listed in their future products. I believe they are a Clevo reseller as well?

I dunno, this notebook is nice, but it's too similar to a 9860 for my tastes.

Given that a 2.00Ghz Pentium-M has better gaming performance than a P4 3.2Ghz (so a 2.13Ghz Pentium-M should compete well with 3.4-3.6Ghz P4s), will run much cooler, will require fewer/smaller fans, will likely shave 4-5lbs off the notebook weight, and will require a smaller power brick....seems like it's a total win for me.

And IMO, should be for everyone who doesn't care about 64-bitness. That is to say, almost everyone.

I haven't heard anything on the 64-bit edition for the P-M but P4 64 bit is coming out in the next couple of months. Also Windows Longhorn OEM's will be out in the fall with companies like Dell, HP but retail is scheduled for Spring of 2006. But with Microsoft you never know. For all you know they might either postpone the release or have a mini version of the OS. Already they are cutting down on some of the technology for Longhorn like avalon/indigo. They will take more time.

64-bit is also crucial to me. Hopefully hardware companies will upgrade the drivers. If any of you is interested in installing the beta, let me know I can send you the link. Hopefully its still there.

Incase you guys didn't see on the other post, 915 / 925 chipsets for intel WILL allow for P4 EMT64 chips, but not dual core chips.
My information sources say, this is not true. 915 will support dual core chips, maybe with a BIOS update, but if those chips work, sager will give us a flash, I´m sure. 915 is really not so old and what options are there in future chip design else than 64bit and dual core ?

I'd check again eingang, anandtech specifically said in their article that they're not supported.

I dont mind having a p4 with a 7-10lb notebook, but not when its 2" thick.

Also, most mobile video cards have nifty power saving features which lets the card use less power, so you've got a mobile notebook / dtr when you want it. The 9860 will probably be slightly ahead in benches with whatever centrino models come out, but to me thats well worth getting a thinner notebook with longer battery life.

For those interested in the upcoming Intel P4 3.80Ghz EM64 processor, the estimated retail price is $759.00 expected to come out in the next 60 days.

I assume it'll be the same tv tuner used in the 9860 (why wouldn't it be?). So yes, I think.

Hey, look.. glossy screen!

Wonder which models will have glossy.

Finally the replacement for the 5690!

I hope the mini slideshow LCD thingy is an option
post #114 of 255
Maybe it can be used to show album art when in dj mode.... but I doubt it.

I really love the design of it..looks sleek... Its a good compromise from the 9860 and I really like they put the 256mb video cards in this time around.. I couldn't give up my beautiful 17 inch display though..it still makes me drool...now im in the market to replace my crt and i compare every lcd I see to the one on my 9860 heh..

God I hope the AMD w/ATI x800 model gets a 17" screen.. I see @ eurocomms site that it is a 15.4

When will this notebook be available to order?
Long time reader, first time poster.

After reading these forums for about half a year now I will definetly check out the Eurocom Centrino/PM based model. Someone earlier didn't understand the reasons for wanting and heavy video card and a light processor. Well don't both provide power/processor scaling to save heat and battery? Why not do both to keep size down? My ideal notebook would be the new centrino/amd centrino "killer" with a 6800 card. Something under $1800 shipped and I'll be first in line.

Edit: I noticed the Eurocom M400A COBRA (7620) will come with a upgradeable X700 not a 6800 or X800. Anyone know how much a 6800 or X800 cost to upgrade the stock X700?
I can't find any information about the mobile radeon x700....its not even listed on ATI's site.
Both systems (7620) and the M400A COBRA seem different enough. Are they even considered different versions of the same system?
