It would be great to have 9860 (it is now exactly how i want it ) BUT with the 2nd LCD that 7620 has actually. The LCD will drain faster the battery but I think it is JUST COOL!!!
post #125 of 255
Will the sager 7620 mobo be able to handle intel 64 bit processor when it comes out? If so will we be able to upgrade the processor? Also I know this may be a bit off topic but does anyone know when an amd 64 laptop with pci-e will be out? Thanks.

Yuck, as quoted from http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/mag_updates.html

The cheapest price for this bad boy is going to be $2,345.00

That's with a P4 3ghz, 15.4 WSXGA TFT screen, 512 DDR 400, 60 GB, DVD/CD-RW Combo.

Let me be the first to express how pissed I am if this is indeed the real price.

The difference from x800 is the technology features,
x700: 8 parallel pixel pipelines, 0.11 micron fabrication process, 128-bit dual-channel DDR1/DDR2/GDDR3 memory interface
x800:12 parallel pixel pipelines, 0.13 micron low-k fabrication process, 256-bit quad-channel GDDR3 memory interface.
These features make x700 cheaper with less battery consumption but much slower.
I wonder why Eurocom doesn't ship M400A COBRA with x800

The only differences are M400A COBRA uses Intel Pentium M Processor with 2 MB cache up to 2.13GHz (770); 533MHz Front Side Bus which totaly kills the Sager 7620 Intel® Pentium® 4 3.0/3.2/3.4/3.6/3.8GHz (LGA775, 800FSB) w/HT 1024KB On-die L2 Cache.
Also COBRA uses the cheaper and slower ati x700 and Sager 7620 the awesome beast x800.
My guess is that COBRA gonna be much lighter with more battery life coz Centrino tech is cooler with less fans and the x700 needs also less cooling power;

QUESTION to Sager/PCtorque guyz. Sager plans to release a P-M with a PCIE( x800 baby/6800) to kick EUROCOM's @ss?

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the price. This looks to be one hell of a machine -- a nice intermediate between the 9860 and, well, everything else. The lid lcd is a damn cool touch and the specs are to die for.

Many of these lappies are pricey; but, IMHO, you pay for what you get.

pctorque prices are usually cheaper than sagernotebook.com prices...

I think the base configuration will be around $1900.00 but I am usually wrong
post #131 of 255
that can't be the price. it's completely stupid. for practically the same price people can get the 9860 which has more options (dual drives and hd's w/raid). and people looking to get the 7620 don't care much for size/weight, so if the 9860 is the same price, they'll most likely go with that instead.
post #132 of 255
Very true. A lid LCD is hardly worth jacking the price up to the 9860 level.
Isn't this supposed to be replacing the 5690? It should run in the $1800 - $2000 level.

Forgot to mention M400A COBRA Battery Life: up to 8 hours with 12-cell battery (I want to believe it's true but i can't...lol);

Toooooooo darn expensive. Oh well, maybe next year for my new notebook...
post #135 of 255
I hope the price isn't true for this notebook. I'm gonna max spend 2200 on a laptop and I want it to do damn near everything. The Acer 8100 is right on that mark for right now, but if this Sager proves to be priced right, there's no competition...Sager all the way.
post #136 of 255
Yeah, From the first sec i saw this babe Sager 7620, i fall in love. The only thing i don't like is the battery life. And the price could be better.. But anyway, i'll buy this babe this ferbruary definitely!

Can anyone post the dimentions of the power adapter. (I hope it's not huge.. )
post #137 of 255
the power brick is the same one used for the 9860 (i.e. its huge)

Totally agree on that one
The only thing i don't like is the resolution. It's too much IMHO

I didn't say anything about size, just price. A lot of people here don't seem to get the size/power issue though, don't you think? This is a Ferrari, not a Honda. One get's 10 miles/gallon, but pays in spades. The other 50 miles/gallon, but is a tad slow. They both get the job done, just differently. I'm not sure I'm ready to pay for another (I currently own a 5680) Ferrari yet....

I'm still debating the 9860 which is a mamoth of a machine. But, it has more features. Now, if they come out with a 1900x1200 screen for the 9860, then it's no contest. And, I'll think much much harder about a $3K notebook/desktop replacement. Sigh.
