Sager 7620 announced - Page 8

This is looking to be a great laptop, although the layout and design are a bit much.

I think it would have looked better with a rectangular trackpad, and less hot keys on the front.

I can't wait to see this unit with a custom graphics and paintjob.

I couldn't agree more. This should be a serious computer, not a overzealous jukebox. They need to get rid of the front controls for the player entirely. Though the volume control is nice, but would be better placed somewhere else.

And that round touch pad is just... stupid. Not to mention ugly.

Warden, all that "bit" and "engine" stuff is pure marketing hype. Sure they are different internally, but the real world numbers and output are what matter. The x800 blows any mobile nVidia chip out of the water right now. Until next month at least....

More indepth: The number of bit's processed by the internal CPU is not a showing of how much power the chip has. Only how much pipeline width is available for any portion (large or small) is available on this chip. If you had 256 bits in one register for the chip, but still it took two cycles of 128 bit memory access to fill it, did you gain anything? Or if you have 128 bit registers, and 256 memory bus, you again would not gain anything. In the end only 32 bits are needed for color rendering, and the math used for 3D calc is integer based (usualy very low integers to make it fast), so the need for such high number is nothing but "i'm bigger than you" on a white paper.

Once it's put into 1024x768 pixels in 32 bits color with a few hundred thousand vertexes, then it's noteworthy.

Somebody with more knowledge of 3D programming could probably explain it better though.

OK... I'm in a serious dilemma right now. I've saved just a little over $2000 to buy a gaming laptop from Sager. The problem is I don't know which laptop to pick. For a while, I have been considering the 4750, but now that they've announced the 7620, I'm not so sure. The 7620 packs a strong punch, but I also like the 4750's 17" screen too. Does anyone have any idea when the 7620 is going to be released... it's February already.

Bump for 7620 release info and newest pricing
post #151 of 255
Any word if the 7620 will have full 6xx support (ie full speedstep controll)
The 7620 will support the 6xx series, but more then likely not the "speedstep controll". For the most part the 7620 is the same machine as the 9860... just with different options.
wasn't the 7620 supposed to be released today?
Not to my knowledge... we are still waiting on an official ETA from Sager.
i wonder when there actually going to release the 7620. they keep pushing back the time and never set a date. i'm wondering if there are some flaws that they're trying to fix (hide/smooth over)????? usually they release a memo or something if its a manufacturing or construction details (like they are running short; lcd problem etc)

Few things to input here -

Firstly, it is due out in UK in 2 weeks time (confirmed) so that's the MAX amount of time I'd say you'd have to wait in US.

Secondly, I don't think the machine looks THAT big at all, especially when shown in the link http://www.amdzone.com/modules/galle...2/P1010112.jpg posted by Sinzon (thanks btw). Some of you guys are making it out to be plain ridiculous - which it obviously isn't. It is one of the smallest looking DTR I have ever seen.

Lastly, I wonder if you can also play DVDs from the DJ console (without booting up)? That would be a VERY cool feature!!

HTD

I'm buying this thing solely just for the screen. If the 9860 had wuxga, I'd take it in a heart beat. This'll have to do for now.

Nice pic btw! can't wait

I don't think there is an ETA either.
