Sager 7620 announced - Page 4

The design looks pretty sweet looking. Dunno about the lip looking chassis where the LED CD player is, but I'd guess you take what you get.

WUXGA is 16:10, not 4:3. Whats goin' on here?
The slash designates another option... the two options being WSXGA+ and WUXGA and the 16:10 aspect ration. Only the UXGA is avaliable at the 4:3 aspect ration.

centrino and pcix please please please please please please This is a start
I'm going to be picky but... PCI-X is something totally different, almost always used on servers. It continues the parallel bus structure on PCI, but increases the speed. PCI-E (aka PCI-Experess, Arapahoe, etc...) is instead of parallel, a full serial interface. It makes improvements on a lot from PCI, and is now becoming common/popular in comps. But yeah... PCIE with Pentium M would rock

Yeah, I definately hope theyre coming out with a similar model, but with the new Pentium M's like the other companies are doing. Id much rather get a Sager than a Dell or an overpriced gaming laptop retailer.

You might want to do more research on Sager heat and noise. I would rather spend more money on other brand like Dell or Sony because they have better cooling technology. I own a Sager Laptop but sold it because of these reasons.

Ach didn't want to start an argument... let's get back on topic with the 7620. (Continued debate in "Dell versus Sager" thread )

Does anyone (Adam, Luke) know what the speeds are on the DVD±R/RW Combo drive?

This is a pain, just as I was about to order the 9860 this comes along with the higher screen rez I wanted in a 15" notebook. However, there are a few things like the lack of PCMCIA (for my soundcard), 7 in 1 reader, and what appears to be a matt screen so I'm not sure whether to wait for the review or just go for the 9860. I don't really want a screen as low rez as the standard 9860 comes with but the other features on it are looking really good.

It seems you can almost never get the exact configuration you want The only thing the 9860 lacks in my view is a good hi-rez screen but that in itself is a big issue for me. I'm not a gamer but a 3d artist who makes games and screen real estate is *very* high on my list of priorities in my usually massively multitasking workspace. The x800 is great as a 3d powerhouse for working, as is the standard 2 drive storage capacity... that WSXGA though... UGH! What a wast of a 17" screen, WUXGA would make me much happier though I have no idea when PC Torque is ever going to get them.

Decisions, decisions..

this thing has a PCMCIA type 2 slot...

Ahhhh, patience is definately paying off!

This is my next notebook!

Can't wait for the review Luke.

That's gonna be a toughy... I would guess the base price will be around $1800-$2000.

thats pretty slick looking, 6 speakers is overkill though for a laptop, but it looks like only the wide screen comes with 6...is that a floppy drive lol...something else would def be going there, dont care what it cost. it looks like both screens are offset a bit to the right. ill take mine in widescreen format.

I think the screen offset is just perpsective screwing with us again. If it is offset, that would be very wierd and stupid.

As long as we're pointing out errors, isn't Centrino a combination of features (processor, wireless card, etc) with Sonoma, the successor, the one that will support PCIe? I think you're looking for Pentium M and PCIe.

Are any, or all, of the screen the glossy enhanced types?

Cheers

well hopefully, the outer screen will be optional, i'll only get 512mb ram (upgrade later), and i'll get whichever screen (wsxga/uxga) is cheaper. here's hoping

Sorry to be persistent, but you mean all of the screen choices are glossy enhanced. No-one currentlyu has a glossy 15.4" WSXGA or WUXGA screen, so if this is correct it is very cool.

I wonder of that means Sager will stick one of these screens in the 3790 replacement?

wow this thing looks like a piece of art lol. If this is going to be cheaper the the 9680 I will definately be selling off my 5680 and picking it up. I can't believe how much laptops are catching up to desktops, we already have the mobile version of the most up to date video card in dektops right now. The future of laptops is looking quite nice
