i love sony style, but their prices are insane. check out a few asus models before you buy sony.

Graphics are only the 9200, a very low end video solution. Screen is XGA. hard drive is 4200rpm.

I heartily un-recommend this one.

I don't like main brand "off the shelf" notebooks....

specially if your gonna play games on em. Most of the ones Ive owned; compaq, hp, sony.... Hardware wise you should beable to do some graphic intesive stuff but they've all overheated or don't have proper cooling to do that....

Id say with that hefty price tag your just paying for the name and the warranty/tech support...

"No" is all that's really need to be said about this notebook.

I think the A series Sony's are good, but I agree about the price. The best way to get one is via the Clearance models on the Sony site. These can be $500 less than retail.

If you don't want the big daddy A290 with the 17" WUXGA screen, I think the best model is the A130/230 with the SXGA glossy screen, but then again I just don't like the coarse resolution of WXGA screens.

You can get them with a Dothan 735 and full warranty for around $1700 from Sony Clearance.

An even better financial choice, if you don't mind only having a 90 day warranty, are the refurbs.

Cheers

Steve
