January 18th looming large! - Page 5

I for one won't have trouble getting a laptop elsewhere if Dell is just going to sit on it forever. The first company to have the computer specs I like is getting my business, barring Alienware (which would make me pay more to wait 3-4 months for a subpar product). Seriously though, the i8600 can be replaced any day now, it's so dang old. Slap some sonoma and a good video card in it for me Dell.

I'm with you Mr. Bond. Dell has first dibs if they don't wait too long, otherwise I have no problem spending some dinero elsewhere.

All I can say is the ACER 8100 and 1690 Aspire are looking pretty hot! Dell, you're blowing it!

The article about Inspirion 9300 has been a lie. There is no Inspirion 9300 until 6 months later. Dell is just upgrading the CPU chipset to Sonoma. It's hard to know if Dell will even upgrade the video card. I found out this information from Dell.

Thanks for the untrusty article.

So are you saying that the I9300 information previously pointed to was an outright bluff from DELL or are you saying someone outside of DELL posted it as a hoax?
Chad, are you BS'n us or is this true. I've been up too late the last few nights and I'm about to craaaaack!

If it's true, then DAMN! Now HP needs to come up with something awesome on the sonoma platform. The Acer looks great but I really need the 17 inch.

Well, like most of you guys, I have been paitienly waiting for the release of Inspirion 9300 because I, myself, need a notebook. However, I made a call to Dell's representitive regarding I9300 and the rep told me that there won't be I9300 any time soon becasue I9200 is fairly new. According to the rep, Dell will just add a newline of chipsent, Sonoma, on existing I9200. By the way, this WILL NOT be PCI-E. Also, I asked him regarding to possible video card upgrade and he said there is no plan for video upgrade. He also said that if there will be new model, it' won't come out after six months from now. The Sonoma version of I9200 will be out from mid-January to end-January.

Hopefully, he is wrong because other competitors are already sellling I9300 class notebooks. I will probably wait until tomorrow and if Dell does not release it then, I am hopping on to another brand.

LOL, who did you talk to? What is their title?

Thanks for the made up information post!

I find it hard to believe the rep you talked wtih is correct. Why go through all the pain of designing a new motherboard to use the Somona chipset if you are not going to take advantage of it. In fact I don't think that the Sonoma chipset could even use the ATI 9700 GPU since it uses AGP.

It is understandable that you guys do not trust me so I suggest you to call Dell and ask about it. I made 5 separate calls to Dell already.
I just talked to Dell chat and he said he had no information on new product lines and he did not know if marketing was coming out with a 9300 since the 9200 just came out 3 months ago. All with a grain of salt until I hear something official. AArrgghh!!
All along, Dell reps have never known anything about new notebooks. I'm sure it's kept from them on purpose. Why would a rep want to tell you about a new product coming out tomorrow that would keep you from buying the current product today? Also, you'll find that many of the reps aren't even fully aware of the current products (as in features offered).

So much for the 'famed' Jan 18th

I had called dell about a week ago and talked to a rep. I have talked about it on another thread, but in short... He said that it would be very soon for the 9300 release but not in the next week or so because they (sales) had not been briefed on the system yet, etc., but he just kept saying definitely very soon, like within the next 3-4 weeks, but didn't have an exact release date. As for the 9200, he said he wasn't sure if they would keep it or let it go, but respective prices would adjust depending on what they did with the 9200.

Take this as you like, but I know that we can't trust sales words, as we have already seen, including my post here, that there are two totally different stories given out. So who knows, but I doubt there would be all of the articles , spec sheets, etc. about the 9300 if it wasn't for another 6 months.

I would suspect that discrete graphic option is not available as of yet because ATI is not done with producing the video cards for it. As from CNET first take, it stated that discrete graphic option will become available sometime in February. So, Guys, be patient. It'll come. If you can't wait that long, go for other brands like Sager or whatever to make you happy.
The sales reps usually are the last to know. Plus they'll tell you what you want to hear if you are looking to buy (most will).

I'd still put my $$$ on the 9300 appearing sooner rather than later.

What does this has to do with ATI? i9300 will be using nVidia.
I6000 will be using ATI X300.
Just talked to a rep from small business, and he told me that the I6000 will not offer anything but integrated video in the near future, and will most likely never offer anything else. Take that with a grain of salt, I know I am. I'm hoping otherwise though. Would be nice to have the X300 or anything that isn't intel integrated :P

This picture all of this is painting for DELL just keeps getting worse. I am almost afraid to go look at other manufacturers website to see what they now have available. Might be tempted to jump ship. . .
