Screens that best resemble XBrite?

What are they and who makes them. After seeing the XBrite screens I can't even look at the other non-glossy screens without bad thoughts racing through my head. So who else makes a screen like the Sony XBrite. I love the XBrite screens, but I hate their price tags. Are there any other options?

When I saw the Sony XBrite it took me by surprise. It is by far the best screen I ever seen in a laptop. Check out the "A" Series. The price is a little less than "S" Series.

Dell Inspiron 700m? What type of screen is it called?

HP ZD7000 or ZD8000 - a 17 in Glossy LCD "brightview" with WXGA or WSXGA+

Great price for a DTR!

I have been wanting to check out the Fujitsu s7010, but I can't figure out any local shop that carries them. Is there a way to find out who would carry them. I really don't want to order a laptop without seeing it first.

The 700m screen is fantastic. No doubt. But the screen size 12.1" is just a little too small for me. I'm looking for something at least 13.3, 14.1 or 15.4 at the maximum.

Keep the ideas coming.

Thanks!

As far as the Toshiba models. Which models have their bright screens?

i guess if u r looking at the fujitsu then the intel graphics is not an issue for you. in that case, check out the 14" widescreen options from HP/Compaq, both have "brightview" options for the screen, are under 5.5lbs, and the starting prices are dirt cheap after rebate. the HP looks a bit more refined than the compaq which IMO has a more "fun" look to it.

PC Magazine review of the HP notes "Though performance was average, the Pavilion dv1000 remains affordable and one of the best lightweight multimedia notebooks we've seen. It has a gorgeous widescreen display and can play your DVDs and MP3s without booting up."

HP

Compaq

hope this helps

my work bought the toshiba satellite for me (a75-s209) which has the glossy screen (can be annoying sometimes with the glare). The sony's I see still have the best glossies. But fo watching a DVD in a dark room, the glossy screens are awesome.

Try the REAL thing... Sony X-Brite

Fujitsu Crystal View and Sony Xbrite are basically the same screens.

Nothing else is close....yet

My desktop Samsung 213T does trump the 17" Sony side by side on deep color richness and contrast ratio. The blacks are as close as you can get to black on these screens with 2003/2004 LCD technology.
Who know what jewels will surface in 2005/2006 ......

The glossy screens are nice, but doesn't the reflection bug you?

My Gateway 7405gx has the Ultrabrite screen on it. I compared it with my friend's Sony Viao's Xbrite screen. It was kind of a toss up. His screen is definately better looking, but the glare is really harsh. My screen is glossy too, but it's not so glossy that I get bad glare. If I had the option to get the Xbrite screen installed, I'd still stick with the Ultrabrite screen for the sole reason that it isn't very reflective but still looks fantastic. It's such an improvement on the old eMachines m68xx matte screen, imo.
