7405gx FN button--annoying placement

why do they put that there? on all "normal" keyboards, the control button is the bottom left button. now, when i press ctrl-tab to switch between screens, i keep hitting the Fn button instead.

stupid.

also, why not put home and end together? they obviously did not think of people who use the keyboard more than the mouse when laying this thing out.

The Fn location I don't like, but I do like the Home and End locations. To me it is a more natural spot since (when used for scrolling) home is the top of the page, and end is the bottom. That means page up and page down are everything in between.

that logic makes sense.

also, no ctrl on the right side, so you need two hans for ctrl-page up to move between excel sheets.

What realy stinks about no control on the right side is the fact that there is a useless, redundant "|\" on the left side of the space bar. I would much rather them had left that key off and made a bigger spacebar, or even better, left it off and put a ctrl key on the right side.

If I can ever figure out a good way to remap keys, I want to do the following:

1. "|\" on the left - change to ALT (more natural for my fingers there to do ALT-TAB)
2. "alt" on the left - change to CTRL
3. Windows right-click on the right - change to CTRL
4. switch delete and home buttons

That'd make it just a bit easier to use

i didnt notice that. that is dumb too. i really think it was shortsighted by gateway/emachines.

i try to get all my new employees to learn the keyboard. it is so much faster to know how to navigate through excel and other programs with the keyboard rather than pecking around with the mouse. i didn't take that into consideration when looking at a laptop. now, i won't be as fast or as comfortable moving around with the keyboard. oh well.
