Refurbished Orders

Hey.

I just wanna get a clear image, what is a refurbished computer? Is it a computer that was returned by someone else then refixed then sold again like a used car or is it a computer that was ordered but somehow never left the plant or anything?

Thanks

Uh.. yes?

eh...i would guess that anything that didnt leave the plant would be resold as new when someone else ordered the same specs. so basically anything that left the plant and came back (even if unopened) would be sold at the outlet. if anything was wrong with it, it would be fixed, of course. this is just my guess, of course

From the Dell Outlet Faq:

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/topi...=en&s=dfh#faq1

All of Dell's new computers come with a 21 day total satisfaction policy. As a result of this policy, some computers are returned to Dell. We disassemble and rebuild returned systems to original factory specifications, then put the systems through a rigorous testing program to ensure Dell quality. We even use brand new boxes for packaging! As a result of our fantastic refurbishment process, Dell refurbished systems include the same limited warranty as new systems. In addition to our refurbished systems, we offer a limited number of factory sealed storage products that have been returned to Dell unopened. These unopened (factory-sealed) units do not go through the testing or rebuilding process that refurbished systems are subject to. They are sold and shipped in their original factory tested condition. We provide the same limited warranty1 on these factory sealed storage systems as we provide on Dell refurbished systems.

I have 2 refurbs from the outlet. a 600m and an 8600, both seem brand new. Most likely returned by folks with buyers remorse.

I hate the outlet. I can't resist some of the bargains. I just upgraded my desktop last night to an 8400 3.2GHz, 1GB RAM, 250GB SATA, DVD-ROM, 16X DVDRW, 256MB nVidia 6800 GTO. $801.80 shipped.

Now I've got a killer gaming rig. Too bad I don't game

My 9100 was a refurb, but it still had most of the shipping plastic on it. Seems someone ordered it and cancelled it later, saving me a bundle.
