External usb TV Tuner - Page 3

Exactly. I have my tuner software (both adaptec and pvs3) set to channel 4 and have to change the channels from the vcr. I thought I could just run the cable through the vcr without having it on, but it needs to be on for the cable to work at all.

If I have the quality set a little lower, I get a picture that looks decent...a little unclear but no lines. It's when I set it at the highest possible settings that I get an extremely clear picture but also get the lines when there is movement.

The reception is good and the picture is fine on my tv.

Once again, thanks for helping me out.

I don't know. Doesn't really sound like a hardware problem the way you described it. But is it possible/convenient to get it exchanged to make sure or do you have another computer to test it on?

If you can get reception on two channels you should be able to get all the channels... I'm at a loss as to how to fix it though since it sounds like you've tried all the settings. Sorry I couldn't help you out.

That's ok. Thanks a lot for all your help. I bought it a couple months ago so there is no way to exchange it. I will however test it again on my computer at home. It did work fine when I was using it at home. I'll probably just play around with the settings until I'm happy with it. As for having to use the vcr, it's not too bad and I can still use the on screen guide to see whats on and then change the channel on the vcr. Now I just have to get my remote from home for the vcr. Once again thank you a lot for all the help.

its just

that i had heard that the only software that works with it is the one that comes with the box. So, is it seamless? And have you are anyone else used it yet?

read my previous posts in this thread. I have snapstream running. Unfortunately I still cannot get my IR blaster to learn my cable box remote control codes, but thats a different problem.

I just bought the adptec videoh! media center tv tuner last week and the software that comes with it works great for me and the remote is awesome. I've had some trouble with Intervideo windvd 4, ever since I installed the tv tuner with intervideo windvr3 which is the included software my dvd player doesn't work. I guess Intervideo's software doesn't like each other.

are there any tuners available that are cheaper? the only function i need is to be able to play tv on my 5680, through a coaxal imput. i don't need any recording features or anything fancy. is there something like this? it would be nice if they were a bit smaller too. didn't ati make one like this?
