Have you configured/enabled it? I don't have one so I can't help you that much, but the recording volume may be at zero. If you double-click on the volume control in the Windows XP taskbar, move the slider under "Line In" (I think) to max. And install the drivers and such for it as well if you havent. Thats my best shot

Yes it is enabled, but when i go to sound recorder and bring up the options...where it says your recording device, the only one that can be selected has the "Advanced" option greyed out? I'm guessing that may hint its not workin'

When you say it doesnt work, do mean when you press Record or whatever you do, nothing records? Or can you simply not get anywhere to try recording?

Go to device manager (Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager) and expand the Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. Your microphone should be under there, if it isnt, then Windows doesnt even know you have a microphone. Check if their is an exclamation mark, or question mark, or anthing else over the little icon beside the microphones name. If there is, tell us what it is, because that can help a lot. If not... I'm out of ideas

Realtek AC97..The same thing that shows up under my recording configuration on my sound properties, no exclamation marks or question marks. When i use sound recorder and scream at my computer it does not hear anything..Maybe unplugged in my machine or faulty? >.<

My GX7 (8790) did the same thing. Had to remove, then reinstall the audio drivers. All worked perfectly afterwords.
