screen flickering, RMA?

Hi,
I'm having the same problem that a lot of people are having. My screen is flickering as if it were set with a low low refresh rate. Not only does it happen on the brightest setting, but on lower ones too. I have searched the forums and tried the screw trick (loosening the screws under the keyboard). That seemed to work at first, but doesn't anymore. Sometimes the screen even flicks completly on and off. It seems to be random. I have cleaned out the heat sink too and that didn't work. I'm not having any other problems with the computer. I don't overclock and use the latest BIOS and graphics card driver from the sager site.
I want to know if this is an RMA problem or have people found a usable work around. Its a work computer and I would rather not be without it. If I do RMA, what can I expect them to do about... replace the video card? monitor? How long would it take for them to fix it and send it back? Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!

If it works out like mine, you can expect to send it back over and over again and never have the problem fixed. You will miss lots of work and if you use it on your project like I did, you can expect to fall behind schedule - way behind schedule. They "fix" it pretty quick but mine always seemed to have the same problem when I got it back. Mine was gone 75% of the time once problems started. Now mine is gone 100% of the time and I have a new machine (different brand) that works 100% of the time.

If I remember correctly, it's the video inverter that goes bad in the 8790 series. The "solution" is to set your screen brightness to one below the highest setting (well, that would've been the solution had yours not already died). Many of us don't feel that turning the brightness down is an acceptable solution and that our machines should perform as designed (I know I didn't buy a notebook with the expectation that I should have to use it on dim settings in order to not break down).

I would imagine the fix should be quick once you get it sent in. However, if you run your screen on full brightness, you should probably be aware that you will have this problem again at some point most likely.

Mine has been doing the same thing and now the right side of the screen is starting to become alo darker than the left side.

Sending mine in for an RMA to hypersonic.
