Lighted keyboard?

All,

I have a Sager NP5690 ULTRA and I love it. However, when I use it in the dark, I can't see the keys to "hunt and peck". I know there are little night-lights available, but what I would really love is a keyboard that has keys that all light up individually.

The keyboard I have has a plastic that is translucent, so I got to thinking about it. I called PowerNotebooks (where I bought it) and they said no such keyboard exists.

Has anyone ever heard of a place to buy glow-in-the-dark laptop keyboards?

Dave

you can get xternal lighted keyboards. and i think there was a notebook a while back which actually had it. otherwise you need a ibm with the keyboard "flood lite" build in
on an afterthought - buy glow in the dark paint and diy

Stick to the topic of lighted keyboards, plz.

I was hoping for an individual LED in every key, and I was looking to replace the actual keyboard on the laptop, not an external keyboard.

Looks like a dream to go unfulfilled...

A friend of mine modded his HP laptop to give a similar effect. His keys weren't transparent though, but there was enough light emitting from the cracks to illuminate them enough to see. He used some kind of light strips and I believe he powered them through an internal USB connection. It looked ok, but I would've just gotten annoyed after a while.

I agree with McKnight - just learn (or relearn) to type. It's a skill everyone needs. And there are ways to prevent RSI - that's not really a good excuse for refusing to learn.

Oh really now. I can type with my eyes closed, in the dark, in a closet you name it. However every now and then I move or shift and misplace my fingers on the keys. His request is not that far fetched..it would be nice to have a keyboard you could see in the dark..i'd be all for it since I do 40% of my typing at night in the dark

if you don't care about your warrenty, you could always put an EL sheet under your keys and plug it in the 5v line to make your lappy's keyboard similar to the elumineX keyboards. I don't know if the inverter will fit in the lappy tho...

if you can find ElectroLuminescent sheets with small enough inverters, you would have exactly what you are looking for at a lower price.

What are the chances I can get an apple keyboard to work on my Sager laptop?

Am I missing something here? Can't you see the keyboard at night by the light that the LCD monitor of the laptop projects? I can...

Although I touchtype at 70+ words a minute, I would love to have backlit keys. Apple did this with their Powerbooks and any real computer user knows that you have to look down at the keyboard now and then.

No. Wrong. Real men NEVER look at the keyboard. <-- Period.

Wrong again, real men do look at the keyboard if they want to and don't give a é*ç° what the rest of the bunch may think about it.
Oh well you might be right tough: there's a lot of "real man" who definitely can't write and therefore NEVER look at the keybord....

Anyway I would have loved to exchange my keyb with a nice aluminium apple spare part but nope, the layout is plain different...

You associate your level of masculinity to whether or not you look at a keyboard? That's so sad.
