Power4Gear throttle CPU on AC mode?

Hey guys,

Wonder if anyone can help me out alittle. I've got an ASUS L5D. Its a DTR notebook with an A64 3000+ cpu. Problem I have right now is that it gets mighty hot. Its summer. Is there a way to get Power4Gear to throttle the CPU speed down in AC mode? I've looked at it and under AC power, theres no option to throttle the CPU.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Does it have a "game" mode? For my Pentium M CPU, it throttles down to 600 MHz when the CPU doesn't have much to do when on Game mode..

Just set the Windows power option to 'Max Battery'. My 3400+ will run at 800 mhz in that mode, no matter what. However, if things get intense, it will not throttle up.

I have this notebook and I love it. However, i have found that the fan comes on when it is warm. It works well but is a little loud. I have found that using a woodern notebook stand which keeps the notebook more off the desk and gives a slight slope to the key board improves ventilation and it runs cooler. The stand is just a flat pieve of masionite 300x400 mm (on which the notebook rests) with a strip of wood 15mm high on one of the edges to raise the back of the notebook up by 15mm.

My notebooks is no warmer then my firiends dell insp. 8600 but the fan can be louder (the ASUS is better built though).

Use SpeedSwitchXP instead of Power4Gear and make sure you have the BIOS set to "automatic" for processor speed.
