Should I run on battery power?

Just was wondering, I use my 9100 strictly as a desktop replacement, and when I do travel with it, I always find an outlet to plug in to. Should I run this thing on battery power on occasion to "drain the battery", then recharge it? Will running strictly on outlet power degrade the battery?

Thanks...

Way I do it now is once a month I drain it almost completely, rest of the time I try and keep it plugged in.

Sounds reasonable. I guess these batteries are only good for a couple years any way from what I hear.

In theory 400-700 charge cycles.

any danger to not draining the battery? i have had my xps for a couple months and never really had it on battery for more that 10 min. then again i don't really care about the battery. part of me wants to take it out and put in another mr9800, then i need to figure out how to get the 2 of them to run as one...

haha agry_monk thats funny about your desire for a dual 9800. not bad at all. i do exactly what hunterzyph said with regards to the battery. i took out the battery assembly once with the subwoofer and man that thing is heavy!!

If you are worried about ruining your battery, remove it when on ac.

I know some peeps were blowing fuses in cars when they had an inverter and they left the battery in the XPS. When they removed the battery, in the car the XPS ran great and they didnt blow any fuses Since the AC runs right through the battery into the notebook. Maybe while in cars and running on inverter, taking battery out is a good idea. I really dont know for sure... Never tried....
