ATI PCI-e card for around $200

I have been in the market for a 6800 GT PCI-e for my sli set up. I read an article today about an NVIDIA rep at CES stating that “6800 cards will not be fully available until the 2nd half of the year.” The ones that are available, if you can find any web site that has it in stock, sell for $580 to $600 a good $200 over msrp.

I am in the process of building my system and refuse to pay the higher cost and don’t want to leave my system on the shelf for 6 months until cards become available.

6600 gt pci-e cards are available but I don’t want to purchase two of them. Two of them will run around $400 to 500 and they under perform a single 6800gt.

I have not looked into ATI product line. Can some one recommend me an ati pci-e card that is around $200, the same price as a 6600gt, which out performers a 6600gt, and can OC at a decent level. Or should I just get a 6600gt. Also I plan to sell the card I buy in 6 months when 6800gts become more available. So I would like a card with a decent resale value.

Thanks in advance for all info.

nothing in the $200 range beats the 6600GT in pci-e, the only thing semi comparable is the x700 pro but it is about 7% - 15% slower.

I just read a review of the x800 xl. This out performers the 6600gt but it also retails for 300. I don't think that for an additional 100 justifies marginal improvments. Also the x800xl is not for sale yet. Anandtech has a great round up of 6600gts and has a good review of the x700 vs the 6600gt. It seems like i will go with the leadtech 6600gt.
