Now I am no Mac fanboy or switcher, but I do use an iBook for my lappy and an Athlon XP 3200+ desktop rig. My new 1.2Ghz 12" iBook has been a suprise of functionality, multitasking, and is a heck of a little workhorse. Much more than I had expected.
Now a similar, and slightly better spec'd Mac Mini is available. No doubt using a host of laptop parts.
On seeing it initially I was thinking "huh, interesting." When I saw the pics of it being held in 2 hands and read the dimensions of 6.5"x6.5"x2", my reaction was more like "holy sh!t, wtf?!" while i'm not completely sold on it, this little get up could easily replace the use of my laptop as a multimedia hub, which i often attach to my entertainment system and TV to stream music and movies from my desktop 160GB drive where all of my entertainment goodness is archived. =)
One thing I will say for certain. Apple just slapped the small form factor market across the @ss and yelled, "Say my name! Say it!"
