then again im still hooked on q-bert.

i get your logic, but i'm much rather play the "visually stunning" version of a game versus its basic step brother.

bmr4life - yeah i agree with you there..

my other 'gripe' is when someone asks how the 700m will play something, you get a lot of people telling you that it wont work and they've never actually tried it.. they just think integrated graphics are total crap. I used to be someone who thought like that too, and then i tried it out, and its not so bad. I like it when only people who KNOW what they're talking about answer..

Whatever. Worse resolution also means worse detail and I personally think it's a waste to buy HL2 and play it on 640X480. But hey, power to ya!

Half-life 2 happens to be a game that scales down well to older 3d cards or on-board video. I tried loading Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 on the 700m and it looked ghastly. Doom 3 makes the 700m looks like an Etch-A-Sketch. Far Cry was just that on the 700m. Forget about Riven IV. On-board graphics has come a long way but it cannot handle the graphics intensive games. Anyway, that's my experience and people can make up their own minds.

Could you play something like "Neverwinter Nights" on the 700m?

Granted, I was trying newer graphics intensive games on it. Very likely it will run less graphics-heavy games just fine, and I will admit that the 700m did better than I expected from on-board graphics. For a user who does not play games that require a 128Mb card, and who values portability, the 700m is a fine machine.

yeah i would really like to know about Neverwinter Nights on 700m

I can tell you that a couple of recent games I've played, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, won't even launch on a 700m much less even dream of being remotely playable.

My current box runs SC:CT at 1600x1200 with all settings maxed as far as they will go. I won't stand for lousy 640x480 in this day and age and neither should you. My 700m is for doing real work. I reserve my main box for insane game graphics.

For ME (and many others) the game is the same. It might not LOOK the same but it is the same story and same action....which is what a lot of people care about.

I'm sorry that you are "too good" for DX7
i agree

Why are people having such a problem with others playing games on a laptop with integrated graphics ? If you enjoy the gameplay of the game play it. I would like to note that turning down the grapchics does not revert the game to DX7. Not sure where that information came from but it's a load of BS. If you have DX9 installed then you are running DX9 period, no other way around it. Turning down the graphical settings will mean you are not utilizing some of the new features of DX9 but it in no way means you are running in DX7. Lets not be silly.

I also purchased my 700m for work, not for play. I may put a few games on just to while away bored hours but I will keep my graphically intensive games on my desktop with it's 6800. I still see no reason to jump all over somone for wanting to run HL2 on their 700m.

i think people who are interested in buying a 700m ALREADY KNOW that theyre gonna be sacrificing when it comes to gameplay, they just wanna know if something is playable.

And for the mostpart, when people ask if something will run, it's not a game like farcry or doom 3 that they're inquiring about. It's mostly something simple, like the sims, or cs:s, or WoW. just something to keep them occupied even if it is at the cost of watering down the graphics.

so yes, i agree with julien when he says, "I still see no reason to jump all over someone for wanting to run HL2 on their 700m." Even if it is at the shittiest resolution, with the shittiest textures.
