Defragging drive

Hi,

Is anyone else having to defrag their drives? This is going to be the second time I'm defragging it. I only had my lappy since october. I've not deleted or uninstalled that much.

Cheers,

I defrag every couple weeks, and it is normal to have to do so every now and again. It is part and parcel with computing that when you move files around and such the drive will get fragmented, it is not anything to be worried about at all...

I defrag my laptop every week because i move about 4GB to my laptop then to my external HDD. I also defrag my external HDD about every week because my laptop seems to fragment every file it saves. I also tend to experiment with a bunch of new software, and it always seems to have a diffrent game.

Any kind of downloaded music, movies, etc and normal use will require you to defragment every ones and awhile.

Never defrag myself. Just Ghost in DOS between hard drives which leaves the destination drive fragment free.

One thing I always do is keep the system file all on a seperate partition, that way I can defrag most of my drive even while I am using it, I probably defrag once every 2-3 days just because I can.

I just run Diskkeeper Professional, it keeps my hard drive defragmented all the time, and runs in the background during slow times so it will not interfere with you running programs. Great proggy.

diskeeper is alright, but I prefer perfect disk because it seems to work better and I like being able to defrag the pagefile, not to say diskeeper can't, I've never tried.

do it when you go to sleep with nothing running in the background works for me
