S.O.S Windows Problem

Don't ask me how (it's a long story) but now when I boot Xp there are no log in options/users to choose but yet it asks me to pick one to continue. Does anyone know how to force past the login screen? I can't even do a software
restore because of the same problem. Also I never set a password for my
admin account so this is making matters worse. I would rather not reformat
so any help is appreciated.

I dont know if fixiing the master boot record will help in logins issues...but not having an admin account is a great problem, try this:
When you reach the login screen, hit ctrl alt del twice, it shall take you to the classic logon screen, and there you may access your accounts (type your username and password where asked, or try using Administrator as username and no password)
That should help.

you can't force your way past login that's part of the security of xp. type in administrator for user and what ever password you used when installing. that should get you in.

Thanks alot for the tips. I somehow hacked my way into getting to the system restore and changed it back to earlier this week before I deleted my
admin account in the "system config" utility. So now I'm back up and running.
The problem I was having is windows is naming the folder for my admin account with the wrong name. No matter what I do I cannot change it. Somehow this file has taken on the name of one of the "Guest" users and is
cosing some confusioun between users. Anyone know a remedy?

TweakUI

You can always use TweakUI to automatically log to a user of your choosing, this program also helps to get rid of some anoying things in windows, like that little arrow that appears in shortcut icons. You can download it here:

TweakUI rocks. I like how Microsoft says something about "creating powertools but not responsible for them."

here's all the tweak toys for XP, make sure to uninstall tweakui before installing these.

these were written by the XP team and have specific install for specific tools. very cool additions to XP.

lsd

yes i forget to tell f8 during boot up then restore to previous date etc
gladd to see up and runnig windows will rename with first name and a set of numbers thats part of the security features

One thing that got me really confused is how XP will use my name as the login name instead of my login name, lol, the one I set... Like let's say I set my account name as "camel", it would call it Habib Srour instead of camel, lol, even though I could log on to it using either name. Pretty sweet eh?

I think to get the little screen, F8 is some machines; others are Ctrl.
