i have had this problem since i got it...ONCE in awhile the xps will pick up on my dlink wireless router and the next day it will NOT pick up any signal..though my xbox picks up on it perfectly! DELL support SUCKS on this "call dlink it is a router problem." Now i get a message saying "your xps has little to no connectivity." I am pissed! I read through a similar post a few weeks ago and tried downloading the latest 1350 driver and it did nothing. I just dont get how it will SOMETIMES reads the router and I can go online and sometimes it does nothing!!! If anyone can solve this for me I would be greatly greatly appreciative. I NEED TO PLAY CS:SOURCE!!!!

You say that you have had this problem since you got it, which makes think of the wireless card connections. Have you checked that the miniPCI card is seated correctly? The little antenna cables are connected to the miniPCI card securely? What about the join in the cables(inside puter, beneath the 4 LEDs on the right) just below the LCD?

Did you run the Diagnostics on the wifi card on the Dell ?

Right click on the taskbar icon - the one that looks like a graph, and run the diagnostics.

Should get:

Passed

This test verifies the read and write capabilities of the network controller registers by writing various values to the registers and verifying the result. The device driver uses these registers to perform network functions such as sending and receive information. If the test fails, the network adapter may not work properly.

thanks for the replies. WOW...dell customer support came through. I was unaware from my previous 10 calls to them that they have a wireless technician to talk to. We reset my router, did some stuff and i am back in business. NOT ONE other person could help me out in 5 months of owning this system. I finally got it working perfectly...too bad it took forever.

better late then never i guess, i had the same problem when i got my i9100, fortunately i got mine fixed the 1st time i called, but i guess ya just get lucky sometimes with dell

Would you mine sharing with the other readers what the technician had you do. It would be very helpful to others experiencing this problem. Sometimes simply changing the channel your router is using can fix the problem or using Windows Zero Configuration instead of Dell's Wireless Utility.

actually we reset the router and changed the channel. I BELIEVE that was it..i wasnt paying so much attention because I had very little faith in what dell could offer me. I swear to you all, I have called and talked to about 10 people from dell on this and they all got me NOwhere. Basically, the reason I was "sometimes" connecting to the internet was because I was picking probably picking up my neighbors signal. Anyways the guy that helped me really knew his shit and resolved the problem within minutes. It ended up being very simple to fix. Previous conversations had me do the following: make sure enable radio is checked, make sure "allow windows to handle wireless connections" is checked, and other simple diagnostics.

With a wireless router, you should always force it to used the channel 6 or 7 (don't remember which) for b and g routers. If not 2.4GHz phone can create interference and make you wireless connection to go on and off.

Also, I had a dlink 614+. For some reason (still not sure why) I was able to do everything I wanted, except playing Medal of Honor (Multiplayer) and only with this game. The Game was crashing over and over again and only with the multiplayer.

I was getting crazy... went to a friend and everything was working find. Difference? He had a linksys.

Change my router (the old one was a refurbish anyway)... solved my problem. the DLINK seems to have problem with the 10-100-1000 port we have on the XPS (it's not hardware, if the firmware). And W$ doesn't get something for the autodetect (I think) and made the game crashed.

Since I have my LINKSYS did not had any game crash and upgraded from b only to b and g.
