I disagree. There are no laptop gpu's out now that will handle all the games out now at max settings and resolution possible at 60 fps all the way through. (60 fps being the standard for liquid like movement in a video game, you can tell the difference between 30 and 60 in a video game, 60 seems to be about the threshold for being able to tell a difference.) In fact I do not believe there are any desktop one's that will do that either, though maybe those AlienWare dual ones can.

I like 3DLabs cards; however, for what we do, even the SGI/Cobalt cards sometimes distort models.
So far we have the most consistent performance with the Quadro units.
gmnstrunr37-in my first post, I didn't realize it was laptop specific; the 256MB Quadro PCI-X 3400 is in the desktop (Precision 370) in my sig.
More than likely, the M70 will have a PCI-X Quadro FXGo1400 (OpenGL version of the GeForce FXGo6800 Ultra).

I also disagree. With the newer games like Doom3, FarCry, and Half-Life 2 I bet I could bog down ANY current graphics card to a less than perfect FPS if I pushed the settings to the extreme i.e. super high resolution, AA, FF, etc. And even if a GPU comes out that is so wonderfully fast as to be able to do this witout faltering - it would not be long before new software is developed to push this card past its limits. GPU's and 3-D software are now evolving at a faster rate than other computer components like HD and CPU - and all indications are that this will continue into the future.

The good news is we can expect contiuous improvements in 3-D gaming experience . . .the not so good news is that you better have lots of $$$ for upgrades if you want to stay cutting edge.

All the better... a 6800-based Quadro. But no, I'm going to tough it out and deal with my ancient M60 for a good, long time. It'll serve me well enough for four years.
