I don't know, my 8790 just started acting up. Would I buy it again? Yes. Do all computers have problems? Yes. There are maybe forty people complaining about problems online right now, but this is out of how many units? fifty thousand? A hundred thousand? Half a million?
The 8790's got great reviews, and they're great machines, they just have a superior (spec-wise) replacing them. Out of seven computers I've owned, I have had problems with five of them. My first had a bum motherboard, the second came with a bad lcd screen, the third had incompatible memory built into it. *shrugs*
I'm very happy with my 8790, and I hope it gets repaired because I don't want a new computer. This one has served me very well, and a couple bad parts in it, that can hopefully be replaced, will make it a very good machine again.
You also have to realize, this is the first model of portable computer with this much raw power in it. Besides, thats what warranties are for. I don't know why the unit was dropped, but mine has served me well, and hopefully after a little work, it will again.
