Don't jump so fast guys. These laptops will probably be selling for the "less $ 500 coupon" price next month when the new laptops are released. This is just a way for Dell to make a bunch of end-of-the-year sales to pump up the income statement. But hey, if they have what you want, go for it. If not, there's some much better stuff about to hit the pipeline; and the competition will ensure that Dell offers some really good pricing.

I agree... got tricked into a $1000-off deal here in Australia a month ago with the top-of-the-line i9200 and now the 9300 is almost out ONLY AFTER ONE MONTH (!! ) and probably gonna be sold at similar prices to the 9200 with this latter model phasing out becoming history.

What a good tactic from Dell targeting the "not to lose out" mentality of people like us who can't wait to jump at these seemingly crazy deals which are in fact there to clear the inventory for the upcoming new laptops...

I won't be tricked again....

Ordered a i8600 notebook

1.6g ghz M
512 mb (1 dimm)
100 gb hdd
cd-rw/dvd
128 mb ati9600
wireless

$1357.61 with tax and shipping and all that (I live in california so theres a 8 buck fee..)

+ a 200 buck rebate!

Total price: $1157.61... not bad for this system.. better then paying $1414.14 without that 500 buck coupon..

Thanks ilCacciatore

Apparently, rebates are gone now. Deal is much less attractive, but a few people got a nice deal during the early morning window.

Just got a 8600 with the $500 off!

Yeah I was able to get one... actually just finalized it 15 mins ago.

I had a 9200 for 2 days but the dell outlet center I got it from said it had a 9-cell battery but actually came with 6-cell, which is quite a bit too small for the 9200, if you know what i mean.

so this 8600 is:

Inspiron 8600
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 725(1.60A GHz/400MHz FSB)
15.4 WUXGA (sure hope i can read this on a 15.4 screen!)
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home (got XP Pro already)
60GB HD
256MB ram( will get 1gb separately )
64MB DDR NVIDIA® GeForce™ FX Go5200 AGP 4X Graphics (heard the 9600 had some issues)
DVD/CD-RW
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless (802.11 b/g, 54Mbps)

And stupid crap software i'll be deleting.

I liked the SD slot on the 9200 but I guess I can live without that.

Price: 1652, -500 = 1152.
Free 2-day shipping.

I noticed there was a $200 mail-in rebate floating around:

http://www.xpbargains.com/index.php/send_deal/30900

Not sure wtf that is all about, if its perhaps for the particular link on that page ("Inspiron 8600 Notebook", which the link no longer works) or if i can stack it onto this deal?

If anyone knows, that'd be cool.

i dont understand why so many people are so mad about this. You got Tricked into saving $1000? Are you being sarcastic, I can't tell..? Did you get an awesome laptop for a really low price? I understand that it will soon not be 'the best', and i know it happened much quicker than people would like, but you did know it was going to happen eventually. you still have a great computer, and i think people should start appreciating their 9200 more.

He's mad because Dell is clearing their inventory for the 9300

Dell is beginning to P*** me off!!!

I used the code, bought a laptop, and smiled!

I checked the web this morning and it now shows cancelled!

I called in and the reason it was cancelled is because the website accepted the order too early and as such after they took my order, they realized their mistake and cancelled it. What a bunch of crap! If they take the order, it is an order!! It is not my fault that they made a mistake!

Now I have to start over!

Supposedly they haven't charged the credit card, but now the coupon has been used up!

Pissed on again!

Ordered a 700m yesterday when they still had the $150 dollar rebate, system will come out to be about $950 after I recieve the rebate and my fatwallet rebate. Checked the status this afternoon and it already said boxing.

I guess I just got lucky with this one.

A big Thanks for the people who posted this coupon.

Same here. I called them and she reistated the order for the same price. Although, let's see if it'll get rejected again.

Won't get home for another 3 hours.. so can't call till then.. and won't get online till I get home.. so yeah...only have another 30 minutes on before i'm booted off... hope your order gets through, i'll give them a call later

For some reason, the dell card still has a balance of both laptops.. does that mean i'm charged?

After speaking to about six different reps (most of whom were unintelligible due to poor English skills or garbled telephone connections), I spoke to a rep who told me that the CSRs were specifically told not to give any concessions to those whose orders were cancelled this morning. That includes mine I even tried guilting her (and others) about how I wouldn't be buying from Dell in the future, but to no avail.

The question is, should I try to call back to order a new one with the $500 and see if they'll throw in a few freebies? Is there any chance they'll do that? Especially for a sweet girl like myself Has anyone ever had luck with getting freebies over the phone and, if so, what are the magic words?

Thanks!
yeah, i'm gonna try to get freebies since I had a 200 buck mail in rebate with the compu I bought.
