Alsa on the CL56

I can't seem to get the alsa driver to work on my cl56. I'm using the Oss driver right now, but I want to switch to alsa because dosbox seems to only support it.

I'm running the 2.6.9 r13 kernel under gentoo. Using the intel 8x0 device fo r both alsa and oss, except it works find under oss and not under alsa. Any help from other cl56 users would be welcome.

Fixed this, a service is need at startup for alsa to work.

what do you mean by a service?
Because I'd like to get my sound to work on slackware
