Below is a link to configure the notebook. I am a bit disapointed, because it seems to have old pentium - m (765, 755, ...) and only uses the old ddr1 with fsb 400 or 333 :/ But there are SATA hdd available for it!

Cybersystem S26 (Clevo m400a)

Configured with a pentium 755, 80gb sata, 1024 ddr1 - 400, doublelayer 8x multinorm dvd +/- writer it ships for about 1950€.

Anyone has information about battery life, display quality, heat and loudness (noise)?

Greetings from Austria!

No it's not. They are just taking people money. oups I mean taking preorders.
And I wouldn't trust Eurocom or that Germany website since their infos doesn't match Clevo specification.
The German say it have a UXGA (Wrong XGA or SXGA+), 400FSB (Wrong 533FSB), X700 256MB (Wrong it's 128MB), ddr400 (Wrong ddr333) and 2 HDD (Wrong 1).
Eurocom also have many wrong infos.

Alviso/Sonoma uses the same Processor as Centrino, Alviso allows it to run at 533 MHz instead of 400. They just have a typo.

X700 is "upgradable" to 256 bit version.
post #149 of 360
Clevo doesn't list the 256MB version and Ati website says it's offered in 64MB or 128MB version.
+ There's no proof that the M400A have a upgradable gpu (AXIOM/MXM)

Multiple Variants For Ultimate Design Flexibility
Support for multiple mobile form factors:
Discrete
On-chip 64MB DDR
On-chip 128MB DDR

Ohh really?

"Fully upgradeable/modular video card - choice of ATi Mobility Radeon X700 128 MB or 256MB dedicated video memory with 16x PCI"

http://web.eurocom.com/EC/server_request=ecf_model(147)

Please read THEN speak.

Axiom = ATI MXM = nVidia

As I have said please read THEN speak.

Wow...I see several things to clear up.

The M400A may or may not have upgradable graphics. We know it does not have ATI Axiom or nVidia MXM because these are not adopted by Clevo. Clevo has their own upgradable graphics formfactor, which may or may not be used in the M400A.

The amount of video RAM that comes with the X700 of the M400A is 128MB, not 128bit. 128bit refers to the memory bandwidth of the Mobility Radeon X700, and there is no indication of a 256bit version of the MR X700 planned.

ATI's website lists the MR X700 as coming in three packages, discrete, 64MB, and 128MB. But the card can infact use 256MB in a laptop. Of the three packages mentioned by ATI, the latter two have memory chips on top of the VPU, which means that the memory and VPU comes on the same chip. The maximum VRAM that can be used in this way is 256MB. However, Clevo have always used the discrete version of the chip, and uses their own memory soldered elsewhere on the mainboard. That's how they are able to use 256MB of memory with the ATI VPUs.

Didn't know Clevo use the descrete version. Thanks for the info.

MichaelX30 I'm quite aware that Eurocom says it's upgradable but you cannot fully trust anything Eurocom says. They claimed that the M400A whould use the X600 or 6600, then the x600 or 6800 and now the x700 128 or 256MB. They claimed that it whould ship in december 2004, then in January 2005, 15 of January and now February 2005. Clevo, the one who actually build the laptop is a better source of infos and if they says 128MB and doesn't talk about modular design gpu like on the D900T page, then there's

Please Read THINK about how reliable your info is and then speak.

And it's not Alviso that allows the P-M to run at 533 MHz instead of 400 but Intel who designed a new batch of Dothan processor with a 533MHz FSB

post #154 of 360
Alviso = 915PM/GM/GML chipset
Dothan = Processor

wow unholy, your points are really red, how many do you have?
post #157 of 360
Alviso is the codename for the mobile version of the 915 chipset. It support the 533FSB version of the P-M processor codename Dothan. And it's part of the Centrino codename Carmel replacement : Centrino Sonoma.
