Getting winLirc to work with 4750?

Is there a way to get winLirc to work through one of the infared ports on the front of my 4750? I didn't order the TV tuner hardware with the laptop, but I'm assuming that the infared hardware would still be there, right?

I tried installing the drivers for the tv tuner from the sager website, but I still don't even know if it will work no matter what settings I would use for winLirc.

any ideas/experience in this matter?

I have gotton a cell phone to connect to the ir port (it was by accident) and i do not have a tv tuner. Tou may have to turn it on under the control panel (classic view) under the "wireless link" section. THat is the only IR experiance that i have had.
