Where can I find photos of notebooks with quick snap covers, I heard somebody mention the Dell FAQ, and I looked twice now, but still can't find them. I'm considering the graphite swirl for my i8600.

Hi Casey

I got all 4 of them here in the states last week. I took pics of them installed and posted them on Dells forum here:

or if you want to there here also:

As far as getting one there, That can be a bit pricey. The freight would be high and the duties a killer. I suspect it would be over double the cost of the part itself to get it there from the states

I just got a Venice Blue quick snap cover, simply because the all gray color of the laptop was quite boring. Plus, I had noticed a few marks of where I had slipped the computer in and out from my carrying case. To me, it was it was a bit more protection for the back of the LCD.

I agree at $40; it is pricey. I tried to go the cheapest way possible. At Parts-People I got a the Venice Blue for $27ish ($19.99 + freaking $7.92 shipping...) shipped. Still quite high for what you're paying for. I recieved it yesterday, and made the computer look quite a bit better, even though the cover is used, very slight scratches and a nick on the top left hinge where you can see the blue coating has been scraped off of.

Is it worth $40? Not really. But it is nice to have that added protection to the back for something many people probably spent $1,000+ on. Not to mention it makes the computer look a lot better, because the standard silver computer is beyond boring. And it does make the LCD display a bit more sturdy to open and close. (Much like Dell's 5100 series laptops.... their hinges are much sturdier when opened and closed.

So -- I wouldn't pay full price for the cover if you have to. But I'm happy with what i got, even though it's kind of hard to justify near $30 for just a piece of plastic. Oh well, it's much better protected.

grcooperjr, Looked at the photos, they look great, absolutely great, as you say not cheap but what the hell, I am definetly going to buy one have been running the photos through on slideshow to try to decide which one, sort of leaning towards leather or the blue

I finally got a lady at Dell Australia Customer Care that said she will do what she can to help me out. What Dell are saying is that Dell Australia Sales has the covers but Dell Australia Parts do not have them, seems like they are splitting hairs.

Am going to keep pushing

Hi Casey

I have some friends in Germany that I on ocasion send care packages to. If my gerogphy is correct that is just around the corner from you. So any way if worst comes to worst, maybe I can get a cover to him for you if Dell cant come through...

I'm looking to get a 8600, does anybody have photos of the I8600 covers, especially of the graphite swirl one, as I have narrowed it down to either venice blue or the graphite swirl, and I saw the blue on the 9200 posted above. Thanks!
