I have a 6120N Tiny (Mitac) Laptop.
The guy I bought it off didnt seem to have any problems with it (he had xp first edition installed) but I installed windows xp with sp1 and I am having trouble booting up.

On rare occasions it boots up fine after I swich on. However, most of the time when I switch on, there is a single access of the floppy drive, then after a couple of seconds a 3-4 second access of the floppy drive and then the laptop just doesnt do anything else.

A combination of SHIFT, CTRL, ESC, F1 keys whilst switching on seems to work on occasion, but its very haphazard and I'm coming to the conclusion that its just a matter of switching off then on again a few times (the last time I tried, it took 15 attempts at swiching off/on).

The boot sequence is cdrom/HD but the floppy access still occurs. Ive tried removing the floppy drive as there doesnt seem to be any way to disable it in the bios, but the laptop still dont boot.

Any ideas?

It has a PIII 700Meg processor installed with 128Mb ram.

ADDENDUM
Forgot to mention that as the battery appeared knackered, I have removed it and I am using it on mains power.
