I believe it is a dothan. As for the screen, it's indeed all personal preference.
Try to search for "M6N" or "M6BNe" or "M6Ne"; that will give you plenty of results

Yep, i know. I've read many post about the m6n and m6bn... the interesting thing, is that, that in our contry m6bne doesn't exist! There is no b-version... The scrren is mentioned only in the description. Thats why i'm posting... No rich and complete description is available about specific models... I'm really confused. If I buy a book, i want to be sure, that i'll get what i want.
thanks for the posts!

Each region have different variant in terms of how they name the model. But in summaries, Asus known it as the M6000 series. The b signify screen size between the 15.1 and 15.4 version.

But otherwise, it is M6000 series.

It may help if you tell us which country you are from or at least which part of the world you are located. Chances are some people are in the same geographical area as you are and have knowledge regarding the localized specification of the laptop. Hopefully, they will shed some light on your situation.

I'm from Slovakia. I saw that the model numbers are the same in Check and in Hungary too.

can it happen, that one m6742Ne is supplied with dothan and other is with banias cpu?

Asus only supply the barebone system w/o HD, CPU, and Memory. It is the local place or online places you purchase that add in the rest. Check with them what kind of stuff they add to it.

If it helps, I think the M67xx signifies a 15.4" and M68xx means 15.1"... keyword: THINK

Okay, but for me the screen is secondary... the product which i mentioned has widescreen. I'm sure in that... The question is in the cpu!!!!! (DOTHAN or BANIAS)

This is true in the States, but not necessarily elsewhere. In Australia the M6 comes as a fully built Asus notebook only. I think this is the same elsewhere. I would be very surprised if this one didn't come with Dothan.

Thanx guys for the posts! I hope that i will get a dothan for my money!
Can I replace the cpu and the hdd later? and one more question. Is this book quiet? What about the cooling.. I've read several threads about the m6, but the cooling was not mentioned.
Yes of course you can upgrade the CPU and HDD later... or RAM or wireless card if you want too.
This is one of the more quieter notebooks I've seen... because it's a 15", there's a lot of space for heat dissipation, and so the notebook doesn't heat up too bad. The fan on its lowest speed is pretty much inaudible...
Some M6's have odd cooling behaviour (i.e the fan comes on sporadically or fails to come on when expected) but the recent 0207 BIOS appears to have fixed that for the most part.

IN other words, I'd buy it if I were you

I will.... I've read only good things about this.
I need a fast, lightweight, quiet and of course a reliable notebook. After theese posts i've decided to go and buy it )))
Maybe after a couple of weeks i'll become an m6 owner!!!!

It's not the lightest... obviously... but it is amongst the lightest in its class
Enjoy your M6
