What hz rates is the screen capable of?
I was very interested in the travelmate 8104wlmi but this x800 256mb and much improved 3dmark scores makes the sager much more lucrative as it's in the same price range. As long as it can pull off 100hz in 800x600 / 1024x768
ALL LCD screens use 59/60Hz they currently don't go any faster, this is partly why all notebook/LCD gamers experience at least some "tearing" in games (where the vertical refresh can't keep up with fast moving graphics) - this can however be mitigated to some extent by enabling the V-Sync option either in the video drivers or in-game.
Also note - "tearing" is almost totally unrelated to "ghosting" which is what occurs when the screen pixels are too slow to turn off/change colour, ghosting isn't an issue anymore with any of the more recent LCDs (by the way the Response Time rating of various LCDs, which relates to Ghosting, can be very misleading as there's no industry standard/watchdog for how the calculations are performed or reported and they only account for the shift between black and white without taking into account any other colours).
I'd advise that the best thing to do is ask actual users about their experience with a particular Notebook/LCD and if possible have a look at one in person before you buy.
