Sager 7620 review - Page 2

How come the 7620 can't use ddr533 modules, even though both computers use the same chipset?
Whoa...say what? If you mean that it can't run them at fullspeed, then yes, it makes sense due to the fact that nothing but the 1066mhz bus P4EE's w/ the 925XE chipset can fully take advantage of ddr2533 w/o OCing.

No it is not.

They were literally the same processor, we pulled the one out of my 9860.
really? a tech from sager called me yesterday and said you cant install a x800 on your own, you needed to send it in for mobo modifications. if youre correct, why is it 450$ if we can do it our selves? shouldnt it be cheaper? granted its a smaller screen, but the 6 speakers and lcd displaay on the front cover sould factor in heavily on that price for the 7620 package.

Where is the PCIe Sager with AMD 64 on it! That's what I want!

Anyone else dissapointed by the < 2 hour on !2! batteries life?

You need to send it in if you don't have the extra heat plate. Serials 84xxx do not hae the plate installed but 85xxx were.

It's a DTR is it's expected to have poor battery life. And take into account that those two hours are not only on 2 battries but also with the processor on forced downclock. Since Luke said the 7620 is the same as the 9860, if the processor ran full speed the distarge on the battries would be so great that they would be destroyed.

If battery life is important then a PM centrino/sonoma notebook is what you want. This thing is made to be portable not mobile. And i really would like to see an AMD64 version out. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

hhmm pondering this.
sound is important to me, but only from a gaming point of view. DVD playback is somewhat important but not totally.
What bugs me is everything on the right side, I'd prefere not to have any connections on that side at all.
The UXGA from the 56XX series has a responce time of 30 ms, something I was hoping would have gotten better.

I think the person was saying can you exchange the GeForce 6800 Go cards between them, not the X800 is what I got out of this. And yes if you want to go from the 6800 to the X800 it is going to be a little more work and would require it to be sent back. This looks like it is going to be a good 15" notebook once it hits the market, but like everyone one else I still wonder when the AMD 64 PCIE notebook will hit the markets then we will see some good competition and maybe lower prices hopefully. I wonder if the 7620 is going to have the X800 GPU or GeForce 6800 when it is finally released. I also wonder if Sager is going to wait until the new GeForce 6800 is released in Feb. offer it in the 7620 and release the 7620 at that time, its only about 4-6 weeks away to the release of the new GeForce 6800. Oh well by 2 cents worth for the day...

The cost isn't an installation fee, it's parts. Having come from the desktop world my self i remember buying the newest and greatest graphics cards from $500-$700, paying $450.00 for the very fastest card on the market would have been a releif to me. The direction the notebook world is going is not different, fully interchangable parts. I wouldn't expect notebook upgrades to be a whole lot cheaper than desktop upgrades of the past.

could we see a couple pics of the 7620 alongside of an 9860 please.

Does the 7620 have a numeric keypad?

thats what i was referring to. im not saying its expensive, i just thought it might be cheaper since we can upgrade ourselves with a bios tweak. cutting out sending it back to the manufacturer. thanx
