Sager 7620 review - Page 5

wow. wow.

very very very nice notebook. if only they made it an AMD for about $500 cheaper...

One question. You mention in the review the displays are
15.4” (16:10) WSXGA+ / WUXGA TFT, 15” (4:3) UXGA

I find no mention of a 4:3 display on any other place on the internet, even the Sager site. Could you confirm that a 4:3 display is an option for this notebook.

http://www.clevo.com.tw/products/D700T.asp
is the 4:3 15.0" LCD

http://www.clevo.com.tw/products/D750W.asp
is the 16:9 15.0" LCD

Same laptop, different screen, yet different model number.

Hmm...interesting that the gfx cards on the D700t are 256bit, whereas on the 750w they're only 128bit...

I cannot wait for this computer to be released and start playing with the "configure your computer" web page for 10 months and then see another computer being released and being undecided to buy the 7620.

This describes me very well. I really want to but the 9860 but the 7260
is really tempting since its much lighter and cheaper,

Question
1. Its Mid-Febuary already anybody now the availabiltiy of these puppies?
2. Its probably a stupid question but I can I assume that the place to but a SAGER is thru ADAM (PCtorque)?

3. When will the AMD 64 have a x800 (laptop). This is what I really want.

Peace to everyone (long time Lurker)

Thanks for quick response. I dont think I can wait any longer. I have My 9860 configured and in my cart (PCtorque).

One quick question if you dont mind. I am debating between the
60 gb 5400 rmp sata or
60gb 7200 (non sata)

is there a big difference here between performance and noise?
I am leaning towards the non 7200 non sata, just to avoid the floppy install
deal.

for me 4 pounds lighter is great, although I feel that it is not really cheaper since it comes with less options for the same price. I really hope that Sager will decrease by another 200$ when they release it.

Also I am concerned about the thermal issues with a smaller casing but as much power. Do you guys at PC Torque have experienced any temperature problems while playing games?

I already know what I will put as wallpaper on the small LCD screen on the back: "How do I know that you're jealous? You're drooling and I am not your type"

Are you going with Raid or non Raid setup?

We did not experience any over heating issuse with the test unit, and we expect the mass produced version to be a little better(Ours was hand soldered in a few places ).

no raid here just single hardrive.

In gaming the hd only matters in load times right?.

I figure 1gb should avoid swap file issues.

So in a single drive set up 7200 non sata or single drive sata?

Thanks again

I've been watching this notebook for a while now and I had a question. On Clevo's site it is listed with the dimensions of 14.2" x 11.5" x 1.5" and your measurements were 14.2" x 12" x 2".

2" is just way to thick for my needs and I was wondering if Clevo was just wrong or if the difference might be because you received a demo model. Any light on the subject would be helpful. Thanks

I would go with the bigger deminsions. I think it was Luke that said some resellers will do things like measure without the rubber pads or batteries that stick out. That type of thing. On the 7620 for example, if only the top lid was measured then the DJ that sticks out would not be measured.
Ok, I get that, but a whole half an inch!! Seems like pretty big rubber pads to me

Glad I didn't buy a 9860 now, as I do not need the huge screen. Hopfully my finances will be in order by the time the 7620 is released.

Maybe I can use the little LCD on the cover to make some extra money by selling advertising time and running commercials on it.

So can you play DVDs from the laptop without powering up?

I get the impression that the optical drives can be powered from the front DJ console so hopefully you could actually use this as a DVD player when plugged into your TV (or even store it underneath your TV) - without the need to boot up every time.

Hey, it's a facility I would enjoy

Is this the case or am I sadly misguided?

TIA

Gotta be the 7620 with the new DDR3 Geforce Go 6800 Ultra.

I have been planning on purchasing this model with the Radeon X800 for 3almost 3 months now but excellent reviews of the Geforce card at tomshardware and extremetech have decided it!!

2 weeks and counting
