gigabit ethernet, pcmcia do not work ... help

I bought used D500P (Sager 5680) laptop. The problems are fallowing; gigabit ethernet, pcmcia slot, IEEE1394 port does not work (they are not recognized by notebook. windows xp does not recognize the above devices . This is not a driver problem ) USB ports works when I reboot the system . I reloaded xp twice already. A few days ago pcmcia slot and IEEE1394 port worked for 2 days and recognized by notebook. I connected to the internet . Gigabit internet did not work when pcmcia slot and IEE1394 were working for 2 days . After 2 days pcmcia slot and IEEE1394 ports stop working . Except connecting internet other things are working fine but without internet laptop or PC is not very usefull at all. I guess the problem is somehow power does not go to some of the chips controling the devices but this is just guess. I need help or maybe hint to solve this problem.

Thanks.

You have, of course, loaded the Sager chipset drivers in the order in which they are supposed to be installed? I have heard that very bad things happen if you do not do that in Sagers' peculiar order. Also, almost none of the devices in a 5680 are natively supported by Windows.

On another computer, download Knoppix (I think that's the German site..click on the flag to get the English site) and burn it to a CD. Start up from the CD and open a terminal window. At the command prompt, type "lspci" without quotes. Post that output here.

I tried to install drivers which came with the CD and I tried also to install latest drivers. For non working devices I get "code 10" error . Now I suspect the bios is problem. When I boot the system I get Phoenix cME FirstBIOS Notebook pro, Bios version 1.00.Po5 and KBC/EC Firmware Revision: 1.00.P5. By using Astra32 program DMI BIOS info is following:
Bios vendor: PHOENIX Technologies LTD
Bios version: 6.00
Bios date : 10/09/2003

I downloaded gruboot.zip, knoppix-customize-007.zip and KNOPPIX_V3.6-2004-08-16-EN.iso. I do not know how to open a terminal.

Under device manager, are the various devices showing as working?

Under device manager , most of the various devices are working and there is no question mark However there are no network cards at all. Gigabit ethernet, pcmcia slot, IEEE1394 ports do not exist. After I installed and uninstalled red hat 9.0 and reinstalled windows XP USB ports started working without any reason . Now I can connect to internet by using USB lan adapters ( I have not tried yet since I made the order today but I believe they can work since scanner worked). The question is how long USB ports can work. Last night I flashed the bios there is no change on network devices . Last night I also installed internal wireless card (WM3B2200BGMWWB Intel Pro2200 M-PCI Wireless) but it is not recognized by bios or device manager. wireless card manuals says it is intended to use only for Centrino cpu which I did not know until I received the card. The motherboard seems to be unstable for networking devices and other few devices (USB, firewire.. ) .
