did you have any problems with firmware upgrade on NEC 6500

Please post any good or bad issues with the firmware upgrade for the DL DVD NEC 6500 drive. Thanks.

Can I fit one of these in my 8790? How would I be able to check for this?

I'm editing this post: Actually, I just looked at the dimensions. The NEC is a bit deeper (129mm) than the Toshiba SD-6372 I currently have (126.1mm). I'm a newbie, so I wonder...is replacing the optical drive a real serious thing? Do you have to void the warranty? Or do you just go for it.

It works just fine in an 8790. I have a review about this in the Sager General Section.

Also, the upgrade to firmware 2.23 was painless. I am still waiting on the DL media to be delivered. When it arrives, I will post the results in the thread, I mentioned.
