External Mouse - Use Drivers?

Thread Starter
When attaching an external mouse to an XPS (or any other laptop) are any of you using the drivers for the mouse? I have a Logitech MX510 that I'm going to bring along to LAN Parties with my XPS and I'm wondering if it's a good idea to use it as just a pointing device or load up the Logitech mouseware drivers/utilities.

I have a MX510 and I use the drivers simply so I can map the extra buttons to keys. (not all games will see the extra 5 buttons)

No problems whatsover, works flawlessly.

I dont know about Logitech but with my Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical the drivers (Intellipoint) integrated themselves into the whole trackpoint/glidepad/mouse stuff........this is excellent cause you can alter the properties of any of the three from the one program.
