I really don't like that power supply. It's only got one +12V rail @ 20A and I don't think that's enough. I would highly recommend the Fortron Blue Storm 500W power supply. It's only $14 more, has two +12V rails (15A on each), and a crapload of connecters (including a PCI-Express connecter), and a 120mm FAN for ultra quiet cooling. It's also ATX 12V 2.0 Compliant.

What is this machine primarily going to be used for?

Thank you for the reply! Made a note of that PSU, thanks for the recommendation. Its going to be a gaming rig.

Well, here's some feedback on every piece of equiptment u have there:

Case: Coolermaster is a very respected chassis maker, personally, i dont like the look of the cavalier, but it's your case, whatever floats your boat really.

Mobo: If you're considering a gaming rig, i would consider going over to A64. A64 clobbers intel in every way when it comes to gaming AND it produces much less heat than the current generation of Prescott CPUs Intel's pushing out (commonly known as the Presshot). Prescotts are known to constantly throttle themselves back due to being too hot and also, they pump so much heat into the case that it can potentially cause heat related problems with other pieces of hardware.
But otherwise, that Motherboard is one of the best motherboards for a LGA775 system. Good choice.

CPU: As i said above, you really should consider changing to an AMD64 system. Ask us for more details if you're interested.

Video card: The X700 isnt bad in the ATi range. Great value or bang for the buck if you will, though ive been hearing things about problems with availability.

HDD: Seagate drives are great, reliable, quiet and run rather cool. But slow sometimes. Look at Western Digital's lineup, they're hotter, but still reliable and faster. Both are great choices.

Optical: I would reccomend the NEC ND3500A to anyone. Burns ALOT of stuff at unbeleivable speeds. Ask anyone in the bigshot forums. ND3500A is the way to go.

Memory: I've never had any good experiences with Giel. Mostly, Giel just run up to their rated speeds and stop there. Not much room for overclocking. I would reccomend Corsair if you're going DDRII or OCZ. If you're looking for value. Kingmax is a great RAM manufacturer on that level. Their RAM overclocks great and their service record aint bad.

PSU: On a PSU, the first thing i would look at is the BRAND. Antec is a very well respected brand name as well as Fortron. Silverstone still remains an unknown for now, though ive been hearing good things about them lately. Enermax is a good brand too, but my favourite brand would either be an Antec or OCZ.

Good luck with the system and remember, PICS and BENCHMARKS when ur done

I'm in the middle of building my first system.

First off, let me agree with MELODIS on a better PSU; I find the OCZ PowerStream 600W
a delicious buy; I would also recommend AMD with SLI 6800's (I bought a 6800, and am planning on adding another one after a few months).

If you are a gamer, you can appreciate this; the framerates are unbelievable. Just google "6800 GT PCI-E SLI" and read about it.

Anyway, here are the specs of the system I am building which should arrive the next couple of days:

-ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI Chipset Motherboard For AMD 939 CPU
-AMD Athlon 64 3500+, (Winchester) 2.2 GHz, 512KB L2 Cache 64-bit 939
-XFX nVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT Video Card, 256MB GDDR3, 256-Bit, PCI-E
-OCZ Enhanced Latency Dual Channel Platinum Ed. 184- Pin 1GB DDR PC-3700
-2 Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000RPM SATA HD Raid 0
-Maxtor DiamondMax 10 200GB 7200RPM P-ATA/133 Hard Drive
-Sony Internal 16X DVD+R / Double Layer/DVD+RW Drive
-OCZ PowerStream 600W Power Supply, ATX12V, PCI Express & BTX Ready
-Cooler Master CM Stacker Full-Tower CASE
-Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS PCI Sound Card
-Samsung Black 1.44MB 3.5inch Floppy Disk Drive

=Total $2,342 (including shipping)

Not bad, I spent weeks doing research and found this to be the best bang for the buck.

Good luck mate, and enjoy your rig.

Cheers,

Rakewell

do u really need 3 hdds? let alone 2 WD Raptors?? damn..those raptors probably run like 400 for both?? that is really expensive, but hey, if u have the ca$h, go big. and just a suggestion, i would reccomend upgrading ur dvd burner to a +/-rw DL i have 1 and they write a hell of a lot of shit. the dl dvds are expensive tho.

and i would also suggest going with an amd. and MAKE SHURE YOU GET AN ADAQUATE COOLER!!!!!!!! i would suggest thermalright and a 92mm vantec thermaflow fan.
http://www.jab-tech.com/customer/pro...cat=169&page=1
^^that is a really really good heatsync. it has a giant 120mm fan. it works on both amd and intel so which ever processor u decide, it will work. the only thing is it is not compatable on some motherboards. make shure you have enough room on the sides surrounding the processor

this case kicks total ass:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...133-143&depa=1

it is sooooo good looking. it has great cooling too. there is a silver version of it also, incase that tickles your fancey

EDIT:
as for video cards, i would pay an extra 45 bucks and get the 6600GT as seen here:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...135-160&depa=1

u would be a great deal more satesfied with this than the x700. it clocks at 500mhz (core) and a staggaring 1000mhz (memory). that kicks the x700's ass, and u wont need the extra performance if u get the x800 pro or whatever. it also has pretty good stock cooling, suitable for gaming, but not overclocking. it is all-in-all a really good card for gaming.
