The I6000!

Is this new? I just now see this as being listed on Dell's site. I've heard of it, but never looked into it, but I've been customizing 8600's for hte last 2 weeks. OMG, this is awesome, I have been complaining about the nice new 9200 and 700m being too big or too small, this is perfect, mmmm, Anyone got linkage to reviews, or have any thoughts on it?

and what the heck is this: Integrated Intel® Media Accelerator 900 Graphics

It looks like the initial version of the i6000 will have integrated graphics. A swedish data sheet suggests that higher end versions will come with a x300.

Damn, supposed to be ordering my notebook this friday, guess i'll have to get our rep on the phone and see when they will be offering the notebook with the card, hopefully I can get it soon, I need a computer for work soon! Yea, I know, im hyper, just excited, get to have the nice new look without a ridiculous form factor \m/

Look at the specs. it said it came with 815 chipset not 915 chipset?
Yeah I am quite disappointed that there is no "real" video card it in. I guess we'll have to wait...

-or-

The i6000 is meant as a biz app laptop, and the only consumer/prosumer laptop that will have a dedicated video card will be the upcoming 9300 (2-4 months down the road).

Damn you Dell.

You forgot to add "is lame" to the title of this thread.

The shared video is not a big deal, as it is the new version that goes up to 256 MB. The huge Dell price for upgrading the RAM and the inability to get a processor faster than 1.6 Ghz are issues, however.
Actually if you go in and customize it there is an "Enhanced Performance":

Pentium® M Processor 730 (1.60GHz/533MHz FSB) Intel® Graphics

533Mhz FSB... that's the new chipset no? Even with that tho, it seams to still be an intergrated video card.

Sorry but 9300 comes out tomorrow.

Well I have a sinking feeling that the 9300 won't be offered for a while. I returned my 9200 last week and have credit card in hand for the 9300 but I think I'm going to have to wait. Just a feeling. Hope I'm wrong

Thats cool with me, I don't play games anyway, I need a business machine, I do web development, and I love how the new Dell laptops look. cant wait \m/ Was gonna get a 1.6 w/ wsxga anyway, so it all works out well for me.
X300 on the i6000 will be released approx one month after initial release.
If Dell waits to long they are foolish.

Other manufacturers will be offering (arguably) one of the bigger improvements in notebooks the last few years immediately.

I would be shocked if it isn't out Wed/Thurs.

Looks like this might be an excellent time to buy an I8600. Price looks like it's dropping like a rock, and it gives a really nice price/performance ratio.

That is very true, something we'll have to talk about with our rep, see if she can get us an extra large discount on the 8600 now, but its gonna take a lot, as like I said, I don't really need a fast video card, and the 6000 has everything i want in the nice, new case that I <3.

The shared video is the entire deal. There is no modern game I would want to play that will play "well" on shared video--I don't care how much RAM it has and I don't care how good the shared video card is supposed to be. There is no excuse to be using shared video--at the minimum a laptop should have a a 64MB ATI 9600 or equivalent ( NVIDIA Fx Go 5600).

However, all is forgiven if the graphics are upgradable.
