Gigabyte K8NXP-SLI and Asus A8N-SLI

i checked out the speciafications of both the mobos and in both cases u require 2 sli-ready cards but in asus's mobo it stats that you can have ne other single pci-e card like x800xt.... here is wut it says in asus mobo specifications...

Expansion Slots - 2 x PCI Express x16 slot
*SLI mode : x8 , x8
*Default(Single VGA) mode : x16, x1
- 2 x PCI Express x1
- 3 x PCI
SLI - Under SLI mode : support two identical SLI-ready graphics cards
- Under Default(Single VGA) mode: supports all PCI Express graphics cards

i just wanted to make sure if gigabyte also supports it or not...

does it mean by 'two identical SLI-ready graphics cards' that u can also use 2 x800xt's?

wut is the difference between 2 x PCI Express x16 slot and 2 x PCI Express x1?

No. The X800XT is NOT an SLI-Ready graphics card. Technically, you could put two X800XT's in it (take into consideration, there's no reason to), but they will not run in SLI mode.

SLI mode is when two cards are working together to process the image you see on your screen.

Yes. In fact, Tom's Hardware proved you can actually have two different cards in the machine. Example, you can have a 6800 Ultra and an X800XT PE connected and choose which one to use to run specific games. Not that anyone outside an eccentric freak would need to do something like this, but hey, it's interesting.

And no, the 6800 Ultra and X800XT PE cannot be run in SLI mode.
