Maybe I should try the mouseware drivers instead.

Anyone using MX900 with tm8103/8104, with built in bluetooth and has managed to install logitech mousedrivers. I'd really like to configure my buttons =)

cheers,

hi Ouzo!

i am using the mx900 for some time now. had some problems in the beginning as well. ended up with not installing setpoint at all - what do u need it for anyway? if i did install it i got the warning that it would only install the necessary stuff to work the mouse - so u couldn't use it as a bluetooth hub anyway because ur laptop already is.
if u ever have problems with finding ur mouse on the laptop (which u don't seem to have), just press the connect button on the bottom of the mouse for some time while searching for bluetooth devices on ur laptop - worked for me. i really enjoy the mouse - had the mx510 before, which is basically the same just not wireless - only the scrollwheel on the mx900 seems to have lesser steps and is louder..

cheers to u..

I used it but stopped cause it has not switch to turn off when not in use. Using MediaPlay now, though it has its own glitches.

SetPoint 2.14 is for RF mice, Bluetooth requires SetPoint 2.22. Make sure you install the correct one. MouseWare will NOT work with MX900.

Also, whenever you install/uninstall Logitech software, it totally screws Acer Launch Manager operation (it removes keyboard handler driver of Launch Manager). So you have to reinstall Launch Manager afterwards. I reported the bug to Logitech but have no idea if they are going to fix it anytime soon.

... so that's why my launch manager is gone... didn't us it anyway and email and www buttons still work.. so - ce la vie

EDIT: If anyone finds a changelog on that bios revision, please let us know
where do u see which bios version is installed? i only get the following bios information in windows:

PTLTD - 6040000
Phoenix NoteBIOS 4.0 Release 6.1
Ver 1.00PARTTBL

when i try to update the bios with the new version using winphlash it only tells me that my version is the same or newer... so i figure i have that version installed ever since but could never find the version number (eg 3c11 or 3c17)
strangly enough the system bios date is the 27th january 05... so either acer held back the new bios version for quite some time or my winphlash diagnoses something wrong...

confused...

On boot up go into the BIOS, F2, and the version is on the first page.

Also, an easier way of checking your BIOS version is in Acer eManager. Click on Acer eSetting, then System Information. BIOS is one of the options, and you can check it there.

Houdy,

Well. Amm, I simple cant find mousebutton configuration anywhere. I really would like to try to change button configuration for the mouse.

It works great though, all buttons are just like they should be. So its not that necessary, just curious ... like to get hands a bit dirty =)

Thanks for the tip, DarthAcer \,,/,

Blimey this thread is a very good read!!

Even though we sell them its always nice to read as a notebook specialist, the problems that occur and what 'real' people actually think about them!! Its even better when people rave on about how good they are !

To be honest we have had a couple come back, one with a screen fault and one with the power fault.

Just to let everyone know we have 2 left in stock of the 20 that have come in today, so if you want to place an order do so ASAP on www.digiuk.com

Cheers!

Your comments as a vendor are welcome in this okay in this forum, however, you are not allowed to advertise here. This forum belongs to PCtorque, please respect that.

Anyway regardin the BIOS thing, I checked mine as well and I also have the 3c17 version. Maybe that's why I'm not having the flickering problem? Now if they would get a fix for memory stick duo's...

I think I'm going to make a thread about this...with any luck, the different BIOS versions are the result of those with laptops that have problems and those that don't, for the most part. Even if there's some correlation, that will be something.

notebook cooling

Hello I have read some threads reguarding the heat issue with notebooks and would like to know if there are any notebook coolers that blow air to bottom of the laptop. Since the vents on the 8104 are intake vents, I beleive a notebook cooler that blows up would facilitate air movement and make the notebook run cooler. Does anyone have a notebook cooler that blows air upward towards the bottom of the laptop? Please include a name and model # please thanks in advance

Bytecc NC-500. Blows air ON the laptop. Made the bottom of my 8104 COLD and it did NOTHING to reduce the heat. All the heat is on top.

OK, I have read this excellent forum and was wondering if the experince users out there could help me with a small query:-

I currently run at home dual 20inch monitors (lucky I know). I have noticed that the laptop has two display ports (VGA and DVI)

The question is can I run my two monitors (1600 x 1200) using the VGA and DVI port. I would like to basically close the laptop lid and use the external keyboard and mouse with the docking station.

Thanks

Help! Video Card/WoW reboot issue

I have a question regarding video games/vid card driver updates. I got my TM8104 yesterday, and am ecstatic with it so far! I play World of Warcraft, and the game looks beautiful and runs smooth as silk! Well, at least for about 10-15 minutes before the laptop just turns it off. I mean all of a sudden out of the blue instantly turns itself off. I've checked system logs, and there is no record of a blue-screen system error/memory dump reboot, so I have no idea wtf is causing this!

I was thinking of updating drivers, but according to ATI I can't use drivers other than ones from Acer b/c it's a driverset specific to the laptop display, etc. How have others upgraded to the newest drivers? I tried to download the general Radeon Catalyst drivers, which pop up an error claiming "video driver not found", which I figure is its way of keeping me from using desktop drivers for the mobility chipset. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I know there are some of you WoW'ers out there! Help!

Also, could it be a heat issue? I hope not b/c the system is still stock w/no tweaks or under/overclocking or any other modifications to hardware, and no software tweaks to video either. Apologies in advance if the answer's already been addressed already. I've yet to search this monstrous thread for any potential answers.

Question concerning the Acer 8100 firewire port. Is it equipped with an IEE 1394A or IEE 1394A port?
Thanks...
