post #241 of 1678
Correction, that is can the 8104 output to a 1600 x 1200 DVI monitor like the Samsung 213T?
post #242 of 1678
yeah it got alittle got after playing nfsu. the air comming out the side was hot. the laptop in on my lap and its not bothering me. yeah the touch pad got warm, but until you said that i just thought it was my fingers warming it up lol. but again its as hot as id expect it too be, 2.0 ghz in 1in its going to be hard not to produce heat. no hotter than any other laptop ive been on.

i wish i could find that out for you, but i only have a 17in monitor. im assuming it can, seeing as it has the dvi out and the native res for the screen is 1680 x 1050

Mic_crispy,
Have you checked to see what kind of memory modules they put in there? There was some rumors that only 400mhz bus memory was being installed in there as opposed to true 533mhz memory. THanks

I have a 8103 on order and am really nervous about the screen...considering i'm currently have been using a Fujitsu N6010 with the Cristleview 17" wide screen.......when you say with your comparison to the xbrite screens (which are very much like the fujitsu cristalview screens) that it is not "Clear"...but it is sharp, etc.....are you saying its just not "glossy"...or do things seem fuzzy.....how are the black/white levels.....are the blacks very black or greyish...are the whites very white or blueish/creamy/light gray?

@shboyles,

I was wondering where you got your 8103 from, greta to have one user ot this config since its the one Im looking at.

I have not been able to find anywhere that has it in stock. Also would be great to finalize the question of the specific spec differences between the 8104 and 8103.

Congrats and keep us posted.

@MicCrispy

What can I say, your AWESOME keep those comments comming we are all hungry for some info. Does it have bluetooth? How thick is it, compared to a powerbook for example? Congrats on your machine.

mic_crispy is the fan noise on the 8104, expecially when it gets hot, acceptable?

urrutiaale,
I ordered mine through CDW last thursday....the ETA was last friday, and it still hasn't showed up. I haven't been able to get a new ETA on it yet...someone on this thread earlier said their CDW order was ETA for 1/28/05 (this friday)....so we'll see....I got the 8103...which the only two differences between the 8103 and 8104 as far as i can tell is the 8103 has a P-M 1.8ghz CPU (400mhz bus), and 512MB memory...where the 8104 has the new 2ghz P-M with 533mhz bus, and 1GB of memory.

um... it's actually 533mhz bus

specs
post #249 of 1678
yes it has blue tooth. its like 1" thick. i think the exact specs where 1.33 or something. when the fan is not under load it isnt really audible, unless you put your eat to it. if your tv is on or something, you can forget about hearing it at all. when its under load its noticably louder, but still laptop quiet. the heat, though there, is acceptable. its been on my lap for 2 hours now, it has gotten warmer, but not even close to being uncomfortable. also you have to remeber i have it plugged in (battery charging) and the cpu is at 2.0 and im really trying to stress this thing out.

Actually, Acer has posted incorrect specs somewhere in there on the 8103...because if you go to Intel's website the P-M 745 1.8ghz is listed as the 400mhz bus version,....the 750 would be the 533mhz bus version.........acer stats in their specs the 8103 has a P-m 745 1.8ghz at 533mhz bus which doesnt match intel's specs.

Would it be possible to see some pics of the veritical viewing angles of the screen?
post #257 of 1678

When you played ndfu2 did you play @1024*768?
If yes how does the game look when the picture its stretched?
post #258 of 1678

vertical viewing angles. like, up down angles when looking at the screen. on my AOpen 1557 you can see a lot of colour shift, indicating poor vertical viewing angles. I'm wondering how this unit compares since I'm thinking of the upgrade.

I guess just a picture of extremely high vs extremely low looking at the screen. I'm not sure if that makes sense.
