Acer TravelMate 8100!!! - Page 30

I ordered the 8103 from pcnation last wednesday, it's on its way via fedex due on thursday, the 10th. If you're ordering from them, I'd select expedited shipping.... pcnation swift is taking 6 days, not the advertised 2-3.

SHOW ME HOW AND I SHALL FALLOW. Salivating at the posibility

Actually couldn't wait and called them up. A very nice lady said in a couple of week MAYBE. No hard ETA form acer. She said it could take longer. If yours is on the way then CONGRATS

Hmm they have corrected their website. The original spec on the 8103 was IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® M processor 745, which is really a 400FSB CPU.

Let us know what you think of it when it comes.

It came today, still installing basics so I can't give to in depth, and I will take picutre as soon as I get a chance but so far, keep in mind first notebook I ever bought rest where "hand-me-downs", AWSOME !!!

It is much lighter then my old IBM and the screen is great, no dead pixles and looks as good, no better, then I expected. I will post a super-in depth review once I get it up and fully running with HL2 and such (and when i finish all the back logged class work )...till then i need to go get a wireless router, a carrying bag in some form...if only for short term use till I find a good one to carry books and lappy in (suggestions pleeze), and possibly blue tooth mouse...

Hello everyone.
First I apologize for my poor English, I'm French
I've read the 40 pages of this thread and you convince me to buy the 8104 but it's not available in France yet.
Furthermore, from what I've read on french websites, I could get the 8104 in USA for the price of the 8103 in France
The only thing I dislike is the fact that the keyboard would be qwerty
Do you think I could get a azerty keyboard from some special website( cause I miss the special french caracters like Ć© ĆØ ... and I don't want to have them by typing a combinaison of keys)

Once again, thanks all for the full review of this beauty.
Bye

Ask the bytewize store mentioned 4 posts above, or contact Acer direct. I see this store in France carries Acers but I don't see the 8104 or 8103. You may have to wait for them to show in France or Belgium. Good luck!

According to thier website they will have the 8104 with the english OS in stock by Feb 13. They estimate a shipdate of 15 Feb. Shipping to Hawaii was expensive, 80 dollars for an estimated arrival of 28 feb. I could get it as early as 17 Feb for 180 dollars. I think i will wait until the 13th and see if they actually get any in stock before i order from them.

I have one of these beauties on order and I plan to put a nushield protector on it, but the company doesn't have a model specificly for the 8100. I was wondering if one of you lucky guys that has their 8100 already could give me the width and length of the visible screen so I can fill out the custom order form. Um yea, that would be great.... Oh and there's my stapler.

By request I've added link to BENCHMARKS including SiSANDRA at Post#56 in my review (big page load).

I'm benched out for the time being (other than small diagnosis like DVDInfoPro) but I'd be happy to post, host, and credit any benchmarks anyone else comes up with.

Can't you just order any 15.4" protector? I've ordered two protectors for my 8003 and both times I used either the Dell or Sager 15" version. They fit fine. The Sager 3970 model should work for the 8100.

Dunno, but I'd rather be safe than returning it and then waiting for a new one. Time is a something I don't have a lot of, thanks to the Army.
