I dont think u'll get it from the acer wireless since it only offers up to Gspeed which is 54Mbps, and doens't offer that extreme speed to 108 like some dlink routers and wireless cards
I have a D-link with built in firewall and extreme g. I can live with 54 since it's not really noticeable any way but that makes sense. Thanks for the info

I don't know if this is for real or not, but digitallyunique.com is saying they have 8104's in stock- to anyone interested.

My DSL line is only 1.5Mbps so i'm not worried about hitting any speedbumps on the internet. Does anyone know if the 802.11 a/b/g card in the 8104 can do 108Mbps extreme G? I rarely access any files on other computers on the network, but it'd be nice to be able to get that kind of throughput.

The X700 Litteraly doubles up the performance of the X600, infact in shader intensive areas it can get 2.5 times the performance, so that is realy not close, not that the X600 isnt good, but I would say your talking about the difference between 800x600 medium details, and 1024x768, high details with some AA/AF as an option on new demanding games.

Of those of you who already have the 8104 could you tell me the name of cardbus controller.

To find it

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Device Manager (make sure ‘View devices by type’ is chosen) > PCMCIA socket > Your CardBus Controller is now displayed.

Thanks,

My 8103 ordered from PCNation on Feb. 2nd is set to ship so they must have had some arrive today as expected. Just and FYI in case anyone else had an 03 on order with them.

Meanwhile in Sweden:
The febraury price list came up on the swedish Acer web site yesterday evening. Only the 8104 on the list for SEK 18935, thats about €2100 excl VAT.

Deliveries around the 10th of March...

And yes, I've ordered one...

Remember that the price is excl. VAT. (utan moms). So it's about 23K incl VAT.

I contacted http://www.dd.se and they ordered it for me. I guess most shops don't have it registered yet since the price list just got published.

Cool...I ordered mine last week, (8103) from PCnation, and they said they were supposed to get them in yesterday (2/15), but i checked my order on their website this morning and it still says Backorder
THey must have only got a couple in, because they dont have a lot of orders for these over there against the backorders.

No, TM8104 Wi-Fi card is not Extreme-G. I have D-Link DI-624 myself. Copying files between two computers both of wich connect wirelessly with WPA active is much slower that wired-to-wired. Wireless-to-wired is relatively Ok. It seems like more than one wireless client causes some sort of contention. Note that router is set to G mode only.

Mine said the same thing all day and so I emailed them to see if they had come in. They wrote back and said they did not receive them and the ETA was not met. Late last night I checked my order status online and it had moved to "to be shipped". So maybe you are right...they just got a few in late?? I've emailed to confirm this morning and haven't heard anything yet.

Just got my email reply. No 8103s were received. New ETA is 2 more weeks(first couple of days of March). DAMNIT!! Have to consider looking elsewhere now.
