Acer TravelMate 8100!!! - Page 45

LC.ADT01.003 is the one you want. Check cnet shopper or pricegrabber and you should find a few reseller with it. I think I got mine for around $60. One option is to spend a bit more and get a Kensingtion/i go universal AC/DC/Auto/Air.

Yay just got my 8104 and my Logitech MX 900 bluetooth mouse... This things rocks and there is no two ways about it. touch pad gets alil warm but I not seeing this as a big deal at all. I got one of just 10 that Newegg received on Monday for 2249 and Next Day shipping was only $28...

8100 on Newegg (out of stock till atleast 3/7) 2249 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...115-178&depa=0

MX900 on Newegg (they just raise the price to 75.00 + 4.99 shipping from 69 + shipping)
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...104-149&depa=0

Something else on the way is a Skin to improve the look and help protect the top of the case from minor dings and scrachs.
http://www.polygfx.com/product/laptopSkins.htm
What I actually did for the skin was order just the "side panel" to a standard case from gamerzstuff.com - with this you get more materal to work with (19.5 x 21) instead of the (16 x 15) for the same price. I have not received it yet. if anyone is interested when I do Ill snap a pic or two after I put it on. The one of got is here:
http://www.gamerzstuff.com/product_i...c327f51dac32ab

It runs great - hl2, wow, ut2k4.... wide screen 1680x1050 and its so light compaired to my pervious laptops.... recently Dell Inspiron 8200.

What do you expect though. after a total of 2396... Laptop, Mouse, Skin, and shipping It should damn near fly....

Few Notes:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=987 (Modified Radeon drivers that work on mobility x700)

Yes both partitions are FAT32.... wtf right...? anyways.... I like 2 partitions the way they are but to convert atleast C to NTFS run the following in cmd
"convert c: /fs:NTFS" to do D aswell just change c: to d: - partition magic also works wonders in the area aswell.

Want to Update the realtek HD Audio Drivers? Download here
ftp://152.104.125.40/pc/hda/alc880d/wdm_r115.exe

Thats it... For now.

laterz.

It would be interesting to see if replacing the intel card with an older 2200 or other brand would lower the temp.
Definitely keep us posted if you chose to investigate your theory!

E Recovery Update

After the smooth burned image, upon first boot, I just finished loading all of my programs and just begun my 2nd burn using E Recovery:

it utilizes Ghost 8.0 for those users that stated that they were going to stay with ghost vs the Acer utility.

FYI: make sure you have your administrator password; it is required to launch E Recovery.

Very smooth

Im still watching this thread like a Hawk, some of the over heating shut down problems people have mentioned have me a bit worried, espicaly since I like to lay in bed with my laptop. I am also looking at the new Toshiba with the 128 meg GF 6600 Go in it, but when I get it configured more or less how I want it keeps costing more than the 8103 that Im looking at, I would love to see a head to head review of the 6600 Go and MRX700 to see exactly how they compare, I honestly think I like a normal 15.1" LCD better than the 15.4" wide, simply because I like to game a lot, I still havnt seen any screen shots or desc's about the viewing angles on the vertical axis, they concern me mostly because they are realy lousy on my TM800 LCI, the horizontal angles are very good but I find myself constantly adjusting the screen angle, which I find a bit annoying.

Just founded the part number for the mediabay modular battery pack.
ACER BATTERYPACK 2ND F/MEDIA BAY 3600MAH F/ ACER TM 8100 NS SKU: LC.BTP03.009

Also EZDOCK DOCKING STATION FOR TM8100 part number LC.D0103.004

Normal battery:
ACER BATTERY LI-ION 8-CELL 4800MAH F/ ACER TM 8100 NS SKU: LC.BTP03.008

Base on those specs we can probably expect 6 hours of battery life on 800MHz

For all you UK guys. I ordered pre-ordered my 8104 from Digi UK and it arrive well ahead of time! Originally they told me it won't be available til 1st March but they managed to get some in stock earlier then expected so I received mine earlier this week. Service was very good and they're very helpful over the phone. If you call them you should ask to speak to someone in the Notebook department as the general sales people are a lot less knowledgable. I also bought the 3-year collect and return warranty including accidental damage. Anyway, I'm really impressed with the 8104. It looks stunning and its huge improvement over my current pc!

Hi Carnivore - did your 8104 come with 1gig or 512meg or memory? I want to get hold of one asap, but most retailers seem to be listing it with 512meg. Hoping to order for DigiUK on monday if it's 1gig (and if they have any left!)

Saw them post here today, and rang to check: told it had been sent yesterday, and would be here today. Later rang back to get tracking number, and eventually they got back to me admitting they'd made a mistake, and it wouldn't be with me until Monday. So I could've had it now if they'd not ragged it up. And it sounded like they might not have realised without my intervention, which is a bit worrying.

I guess I'll forgive them as long as it arrives earlyish Monday, but until it does I'll be anxious.
Good luck. I checked the digiuk web site, and they DO NOT deliver to the US!

Good idea. Skins should adapt to that smooth surface pretty well. I still don't want to test the scratchability of that alien alloy. The top is fine but the Acer badge came pre-scratched, however they did that. Definitely post pics. There could be some hot looking Acers out there if a lot of people do this.
