Area51M Video Card Drivers Overheating problems

Thread Starter
I am having problems upgrading to the newest drivers. I received the lap top from e-bay. I got it and installed the respond CD with no success. So I had to use the original XP pro CD. Once I had it installed it would not let me update the video card. The only driver it lets me install is the 5.6.6.7 dated 03-12-2004 I know this is not correct! Or do I need a special driver for my NVIDIA GeForce FX go5700.
Can someone please help?
One more thing if I play HL2 it overheats this is on a flat surface. I see that allot is there a better fan solution we can get? I spent lots of money so wasting a little more will not matter!
or should I just smash it =-(

Some people were having problems with the NV FX go5700 and a BIOS flash fixed their problem. Link for bios and everything else at Alienware ftp://alienware.com/Mobile/766/BIOS/

As for the overheating problem make sure you use you laptop on a flat hard surface and try to clean out the vents with compressed air.

BTW Welcome to NBF.

This should be in tech support, however first do what JSD said, and I'll add this: Did you install the correct AGP drivers from AW for you lappy? If not the card shows up incorrectly as the 8X AGP support is not available without that driver.
