Can someone recommend a wireless 802.11g pcmcia card that will work with either RedHat 9.0 or RedHat 7.3?

Wireless G is not supported in Linux yet.

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to assimilate
it now and make some decision. Two other
questions.

1. I was thinking about buying a Linksys WPC54G wireless notebook card. Does
anyone know whether or not that card will work with RedHat 7.3 or RedHat 9.0?

2. I already have a Linksys Wireless Router/Access Point that supports either 802.11b or 802.11g. Should there be any issues or problems with using a wireless card that was not made by Linksys?

Wireless RedHat 9

I bought the Linksys wireless 54G access point (just another linux box!) and the wireless B notebook adapter.

Works OK, but you need to get the drivers for the wireless B card that linksys makes, which is now at version 4, here:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...2002121Unix%20(Linux)

The new version 4 of the linksys wireless B card is based on a realtek chipset, the 8180, NOT the 8135.

One thing about the driver, buggy as hell, and will oops your machine on occassion, so make sure you are running an ext3 file system, and redhat kernel updates 2.4.20-18.9

If you have any questions, just Email me:

I built a script for managing the wireless card and the built in eth0.

Oh, one more thing, don't even think about using HT mode and anything in the PCMCIA slot. APIC support remains broken, and I am not sure why yet.

It may be a BIOS issue, but there are work arounds appearently, so I will be trying those soon.

802.11 G

G appears to be working with beta drivers on Linux. here :

Hope that helps.
