This is what I love about the forums - everyone, my prof, friends, parents etc. were appreciative of my observation skills...no one notices things that I find very obvious...

Here on the forums im some kid with a half brain dressed up in a green costume with a shell on the back and a stick in the hand!!

gotta love it!!

I got tricked BIG time this halloween...dratted kids chucked eggs through my door when I told them to piss off

There is a rather little known fact about manhole covers...
In 1957 during nuclear testing in the Nevada desert they were trying to determine how safe various bomb designs were. In one test they did they drilled a hole into the desert and put the bomb down the hole - but did not cap the hole. On explosion, it shot this blue flame up into the air which sent observers scurrying for their lives. To quote from the scientists at the time "It was like the finest Roman Candle on the planet".

Now to stop this unfortunate incident happening again they capped the second hole with a concrete plug covered with a man-hole cover on top. Now when this second bomb went off it produced an even higher yield - and the pressure vaporised the concrete plug as it flung the steel plate into space. High speed cameras filming the incident confirmed the plate was travelling at "more than six times escape velocity...".

So Pioneer 10 is not the furthest man made object in outer space - a radioactive manhole cover is.

You think that is bad, we had an old lady here who was attacked at knife point by kids in halloween gear and then proceeded to rob her. It is one American tradition we can do without thanks .

I went to Village Inn Halloween night with a female friend. Technically it was the next day, but who cares.

One waitress, and a line cook working. Two other women having coffee in the restaurant, and we here banging on the outside patio windows.

I, being such a great guy toss my cell phone to my friend and tell her to dial 911 if she hears anyone scream outside. And told the waitress I'd check on it.

Got outside to find some damn kids paintballing the building. They ran when they saw me, which was more then a little disappointing.

Why disappointing?? you'd rather get snogged by a paintball??

Some of the kids here have meaner equipment but they live here with their family so they cant really mess up...its the kids that walk in from outside my apartment complex that worry me...

Yeah I've been lit up at close range before by a paintball gun. But if they think a few paintballs are going to stop me charging at them full speed, I hope they're prepared for a foot up the ass.

Around here, it is pretty common to see a house get toilet papered overnight. Did you see the halloween night leno episode with the toilet papering gun? It was a leaf blower with two rolls of toilet paper at the end, and damn it worked well...just hope no one gets any ideas

Most people use hairspray, but air pressurized ones... They are quite powerful.

Come on, you know you want/need an good air compressor for doing stuff around the garage.

Why not build the mother of all spud guns?

When I was in high school, we built a gun, black powder graduating into better and better grades of home made gun powder. It started out as a bit of extra heavy duty 1" ID steel pipe. But that blew up and we moved on to more durable materials. We could put a 1" ball bearing (one of our dad's had a large supply of 1" high grade ball bearings, hence the choice of calibre) through 8" of reinforced concrete and we punched a hole through the steel plate of the railroad trestle with a glass marble. We never were able to figure the range, but at about a mile it was still able to punch a hole through a 4" thick hatch cover. We fitted the final version, which had a 6' long barrel, with an 8 power scope and it was very accurate at quite a distance. Well, we could consistently hit a 3' x 6' hatch cover at a mile.

Now that was fun. Eventually we had to dismantle it because some of the parents began to figure out we were up to something seriously dangerous. I guess they felt a little bit better about the rockets because we'd buy the motors and fuel from a store. At least till we started making our own. Then we sort of got steered into motorcycles. That was a big mistake.

Oh, yeah, we all had those spud guns that you punched out a 1/4" diameter x 3/8" long plug of spud which it would then pop out with a squeeze. There were great fun but the range was only about 15' maximum.
